We are pleased to present the first solo exhibition in the UK by Nottingham-based Kurdish photographer Alican Erkol.
Before coming to England, Erkol spent most of his life in Istanbul, where he became interested in photography. This series features people he met on the streets of Istanbul between 2009-2011, using his first camera.

We are pleased to present the first solo exhibition in the UK by Nottingham-based Kurdish photographer Alican Erkol.

Before coming to England, Erkol spent most of his life in Istanbul, where he became interested in photography.

This exhibition compiles some of the work he has developed over the past 15 years, and includes photographic projects in various cities and landscapes.

‘Heimatlos’ is a state of being without any homeland,
often civilians who have been denationalised,
dislocated and displaced. The 1951 Convention
relating to the Status of Refugees was established in
the aftermath of the Second World War when
refugees and displaced persons was high on the
international agenda. In this exhibition four artists
reflect on past and current issues facing refugees in
the UK.
This event is part of Refugee Month 2016 organised
by Nottingham Beyond Borders .For further
