I'm an occasional guest writer for Contrastly - a great community and a free educational resource for photographers of all levels, check it out.

I love teaching and miss it dearly, any opportunity to share my knowledge is seized upon!

I've written a review of Canon's first crack at the mirrorless market, the EOS R. I get wound up by camera reviews as they seem too heavily weighted towards camera spec, rather than real world handling issues. Having used it for the majority of 2019, here are my thoughts:

I'm a wedding photographer so this overview is of course weighted to my needs and style of shooting, even so, hopefully theres some useful information for any current Canon users interested in

My page has just passed 1000 likes. That. Is. Bananas.

Thank you to each and everyone of you who has supported me on my journey.

It feels like a lifetime ago that I travelled to Fishguard in Wales to shoot my very first wedding. Shout out to the legend that is my papa who drove me to it (and to plenty of others in the following years) from Milton Keynes. I love you dad.

Now then, with the potential of all the pubs shutting and no rugby or football on the telly, there's more time for wedding research!

The question I'm asked most is 'Do I need two wedding photographers?'. Spoiler, the answer is...it depends.

De La Soul said three is the magic number, but that's madness.

I've put together the most useful information so you can make an informed decision about whether two is right for you.

Should I hire a second photographer? This is a long post, with some really useful information in it, I hope you find it valuable in the planning/budgeting process. My short answer? 120(ish)+ guests? I’d recommend it. Less than that? Could be overkill. If you can allow for it however, it’s always...

Whether your wedding is imminent or a year away my top tips on how to manage the day efficiently is worth a read.

Did you know that some officiants don't let wedding photographers take pictures?

Did you know the height of your table flowers will effect your pictures?

Check it:

Having photographed well over 100 weddings I’ve pretty much seen it all. Biblical storms, bad-ass dance moves, the vicar getting the sermon oh so horribly wrong. With this experience comes a great deal of opportunity for learning to make your wedding day as efficient as possible. I’m a big belie...

Posing. What's the point?

None in my view. It's simply not real.

There is no need to pose, ever. Posing leaves you with a collection of images of you doing something purely for the benefit of the camera, it tells us nothing of who you are as individuals and tells us nothing of your connection.

When you look back at posed pictures all you'll be reminded of is 'the time when the photographer told us to do that pose'. If the moment is genuine, you'll always be transported to that same place, and I (in the nicest way possible), will be forgotten.

If you can relax in my company, you can forget I'm there, it's the reason why you should always meet (or Skype) your photographer before booking them.

The Chickens are in great condition, the puppy is an absolute beaut, the leak in the roof is fixed...2020 is off to a good start!

Welcome to all you lovely newly engaged people!

On the path to wedding enlightenment there are many unknowns, so feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

I'm going to be posting articles on the regular to hopefully get you one step closer to that place of wedding zen.

Let's get going; do you need two photographers?

Today's date is Palindromic, which is cool - 9/10/2019

Anyway...

Reasons to celebrate: My chickens have finally stopped moulting which means eggs will be back on the menu soon, I've decided I want a puppy, AND I've discovered Tanuki Bonsai. Puppy, Chickens and Bonsai, my feed is about to become hilarious...
