A few more photos from our lovely holiday on the Isle of Wight! 🌞🌊

We continued our walk past the National Trust’s Knowles Farm and the Lighthouse and along the coastal path, although the route is now diverted due to a cliff fall.

Our holiday cottage is the one in the centre of the picture — a lovely spot to stay! 🏡

We passed the Buddle Inn, which was rather quiet at the time, but it gets absolutely packed when the sun shines! ☀️🍻

We then wandered down to the picturesque Castlehaven Cove, where we spotted a couple of brave ladies taking a dip in the sea! 🏊‍♀️🥶

Finally, it was time for the walk back up the hill to our holiday home — a lovely way to round off another day exploring this beautiful island! ❤️📸

A few pictures from our lovely holiday on the Isle of Wight. 🌿🌊

Nellie standing guard at the cottage door, keeping a watchful eye out for the rabbits who regularly visit the garden! 🐰🐶

Our first walk took us down to St Catherine’s Lighthouse, with some beautiful scenery along the way.

We think these rather ornate gateposts leading into the field may be remnants of the former Sandrock Hotel, which was built around 1811 and sadly destroyed by fire in 1984. It would be fascinating to know if that’s definitely their history!

This is the continuation of my walk last Thursday.

I make no apology for the few photos being of the St Pancras Hotel and Station — without doubt, my favourite London building! As a fan of Victorian Gothic architecture, I just can’t resist taking a few photos whenever I’m there. 😊

Kings Cross Station is certainly impressive in its own right, but in my view, it simply can’t compare with the magnificent St Pancras.

I continued my walk along Gray’s Inn Road, where I eventually caught the 38 bus to Victoria and then headed home.

This was the continuation of my Monday walk, starting at Putney Riverside and heading towards Wandsworth.

The District Line railway bridge has a footpath on the downstream side, which makes for a pleasant stretch of a walk. I soon reached Wandsworth Park, with its lovely avenues of trees — a really nice spot to wander through.

Along the riverside, I passed a number of houseboats, many of which look surprisingly low in the water! 🛶

I couldn’t help noticing the high-rise buildings with their distinctive brown-coloured frames. I imagine the residents don’t get the best view, with the Western Riverside Waste Station nearby — perhaps the property prices take that into account! 😄

I eventually finished my walk at Wandsworth Bridge, where I hopped on a bus home via Fulham Broadway.

Another enjoyable riverside walk, with plenty to see along the way! 🌳🌊

On Monday, I took the 170 bus all the way to its destination in Roehampton. I have to say, the destination didn’t exactly impress me — a housing estate with rows of blocks like the one in the first picture! 😄 So, I hopped back on a bus to Roehampton Village.

There, I spotted a lovely row of very quaint cottages, each with its own little front garden, like the one in the picture. Much more my cup of tea! 🏡

The Montague Arms was a bit of a mystery — is it a pub or a shop? 🤔 I’m still not quite sure!

I then caught a bus to Putney Station and enjoyed a stroll towards the river. It looked like a pretty high tide at Putney Bridge, so I stopped for a little break before carrying on towards Wandsworth.

Another enjoyable little London adventure! 😊

This is the continuation of my Richmond Walk. From the Riverside, I headed over Richmond Bridge on my way to Marble Hill.

There’s been quite a lot of development in the area, with several new gated communities. The walk along the river path seemed to go on forever, and with the weather being so humid, it wasn’t the most pleasant part of the walk!

I was very pleased to finally see the entrance to Marble Hill Park. I eventually reached the Grade II Listed Neo-Palladian house, the former home of Henrietta Howard, Countess of Suffolk and mistress of George II.

The staff were very friendly and happy to share some interesting history about the house. Unfortunately, my photo of the Dining Room is a little out of focus — apologies for that!

After finishing the visit, I took a short walk across the cricket field and caught a very crowded bus back to Richmond Station, followed by the tube home.

Another enjoyable walk, despite the humidity, and plenty of history along the way! 😊
