Summer is a special time, we love capturing photos of our clients creating unique memories and celebrating their special moments.

Children grow far too fast and it's a very short window we have to capture them and cherish them forever.

We can help make those moments special for many years to come.

“I wonder how she is doing” I thought remembering Elizabeth whose photos I had taken for Leukaemia Matters magazine.

I emailed her and she replied back saying she was going on a trip back to the homeland. Doing well and as with these things a few more conditions had afflicted her health. But she is still doing her gardening and looking after the community garden in East London.

When I first met Elizabeth for the photos I chatted to her about her area, how she kept herself busy and what she enjoyed doing. Going to church and the garden were her two absolutes she’d do every week.

“Amongst hospital visits and checkups that is, and food shops”, she would add.

I was amazed by her courage, faith and pleasure in her activities. She had neighbours who checked in on her but no family nearby. They speak to me on video calls she said and I have many siblings who are worried about my health but I am fine. She worked as a nurse all her life and was devoted to it since she started as a young girl.

Hearing her news made me happy, reading her reply reminded me of her energy. How she was so good at keeping going but not only, also being strong and loving of what her life had been and what it is everyday now.

A life lesson i thought to myself. I don’t know how she does it but she is.

It was a pleasure to take her photographs in the garden she spends time in. And to know her. I often think of her courage. And I hope to hear from her again soon.

As I continue on the theme of working with children, working with schools, primary or secondary is always a pleasure.

This was with capturing these gorgeous moments of pre-prep school parade.

Seeing a very caring and nurturing environment is not the first time at the Broomwood schools as I have captured moments with their older children as well

Fitting in the school calendar and within school days is something that needs to he planned well and is something I can arrange easily with office and marketing a teams.

But for now let’s enjoy the promise of the long weekend coming.

I have never liked the expression “don’t work with children or animals”… 😳🤔😂

I don’t even know why it is an expression… maybe some people find it hard to work with them.

But I find it a joy, refreshing and fun.

Maybe I don’t get to work with them every single day. I get to live with them though but that’s a different story… 🤪 I love my children.

Working with the children of this very caring nursery was a to total joy and fun day.

I have been at the nursery a few times to take photos for a rebrand project they were in the middle of. Photos for the website of children following different briefs - meeting parents, staff, playing, doing their forest school, health eating etc.

It was great the nursery didn’t want to use generic stock photos and had their own staff, children and parents involved.

It was probably more complex than generic images but it shows who they are - a caring nursery, with a great reputation and involved parents.

And that is worth the complexity because it goes beyond what is complicated today as it is related to how their brand and reputation is perceived for years to come.

I take on projects for nurseries, schools and colleges for photography assignments. To get in touch dm here is email [email protected]

Holiday camps for the children - we have tried many over the years and have gone back to a few regularly.

Sports Fusion is one of the regular ones that the boys really enjoy.

It’s a great option as it’s outdoors in the good season and indoors in winter.

The coaches are really caring.

They have a great programme of games and they play matches which makes it really well organised, interesting and motivating.

I asked Elliot to share his thoughts after attending Sports Fusion Easter holiday camp and this is what he said.

“We did drills practising our shooting, and passing. Then we had a break, then straight into a match which was really fun. And then we had lunch and after we got into more games which was really fun and competitive. They give out prizes which is really nice.

How are the coaches? They’re really nice and friendly and funny.

What’s the best thing about Sports Fusion? It’s really fun and the coaches are great.

I got to know the coaches and Stephen more when taking photos of the holiday camps they provide. Very caring, respectful and considerate.

For parents looking for outdoor options - Sports Fusion are great!

Is Magnolia the most photographed tree?

I wonder! When it starts blooming is nothing short of spectacular. It is an indication of early spring, which can (like this year) turn quite cold too.

It is also something I have loved seeing in Cannizaro park, in Wimbledon, there are a few magnolia trees there that are gorgeous. A perfect location for outdoor family photoshoots.

I am updating my blog with family photoshoots in Cannizaro park and I wanted to share it so you can see this amazing place.

The blog link is in the comments.

Take this as your invitation to capture this special moment in time that only happens once a year.

Most professionals do not lack capability. They lack positioning. And positioning is what the market responds to.

If your marketing reflects caution, the clients you attract will be cautious. If your visuals feel early-stage, the opportunities presented will mirror that. Premium clients do not wait for you to “grow into” authority — they look for signals of it.

This is why strategic visibility matters. Not louder marketing. Not more content. Not surface-level personal branding. Refinement. Clarity in your narrative. Elevation in your representation. Structure behind how and where you show up.

If your ambition has outgrown your current positioning, it may be time to correct it. New photography can help with representation.

Perception influences access. Access influences growth. Position accordingly.

When people say they want to look “approachable” in their headshot, they often assume that means only smiling shots.

But it does not always mean that.

Approachability is different. It is about the small details most people are not aware of.

The softness around the eyes. The steadiness of your gaze. The way your shoulders settle when you feel comfortable. The subtle energy you bring into the frame.

Psychology plays a bigger role in headshots than people realise. We read faces in milliseconds. We pick up on tension, guardedness, confidence and warmth almost instantly.

That is why my job is not just to take the photo. It is to guide you into a place where your posture relaxes, your expression softens and your natural presence comes through.

When you feel at ease, it shows.

And that is what makes a headshot truly approachable.

If you are thinking about updating yours, I will guide you so it feels effortless and natural.
