Before this film came together, I sought to encompass a memory in an alternative format rather than endless photos. I decided that I’d try and make a film of my experiences, but different to previous attempts. I watched countless amounts of videos on YouTube about cinematography. I learned how to achieve transitions. Most importantly, I educated myself on how to edit on Final Cut Pro. I didn’t want to release something on social media that I wasn’t satisfied with. I was inspired by the likes of and and challenged myself to create content close to theirs. It was a challenge, especially because I didn’t own the equipment which would allow me to even get close to their content. I utilised what I had at my disposal. I filmed this video using my iPhone and an app that disabled all my videos automatic default settings, allowing me to control the focus and exposure - which is crucial when it comes to filming cinematic scenes (you really don’t want shifting light changes or focus pulls when you want to focus on one specific thing). I also stabilised my footage using an iPhone gimbal which also furthers the illusion that this was shot on a mobile phone. Additionally, I used a drone. Overall, for a first attempt I was really proud of what I had achieved and set in motion my hobby and passion for videography. Watch the full video on my YouTube channel (link in bio!)
