Canadian electroclash musician and producer Merrill Nisker, better known by her stage name Peaches, recently released her new album ‘No L**e So Rude’.

I was out yesterday and missed the chance to post, so a belated Happy Birthday to Poison Ivy (born Kristy Marlana Wallace), February 20, 1953.

The Cramps co-founders Poison Ivy and Lux Interior were married for 37 years until he passed away in 2009. Living and working together, touring and recording together - pretty impressive in the music world!

Guitarist Poison Ivy also co-wrote The Cramps songs with Lux, and arranged and produced much of their music too.

Another archive pick with these guys; I made this portrait of English indie rock band The Subways around the time of their second album ‘All Or Nothing’. It was my second time working with them, the band line-up then was Billy Lunn (guitar, lead vocals), Charlotte Cooper (bass, lead vocals), and Josh Morgan (drums). Morgan left in 2020 for personal reasons.

‘ƬЩӨ DӨӨЯ ᄃIПΣMΛ ᄃᄂЦB’

This is a portrait I made of the band ‘Two Door Cinema Club’. The Northern Irish trio consisting of Alex Trimble (vocals, rhythm guitar, beats, synths), Kevin Baird (bass, synths, backing vocals), and Sam Halliday (lead guitar, backing vocals), formed in 2007 and released their fifth album ‘Keep On Smiling’ in 2022. They will be touring this year.
This was actually a fairly quick shoot on the day, in a venue we hired in London. A couple of set-up options were shot, a little chat, and that was it, time to go.

The Richard Avedon exhibition at Londons Gagosian gallery is brilliant. I didn’t think I’d get to see prints from his ‘In the American West’ series, but here they are.
Highly recommend.

‘ƬΉΣ ᄃЯΛMPƧ / ᄂЦX IПƬΣЯIӨЯ’

A portrait of the enigmatic Lux Interior of The Cramps, from a portrait session we did in 2003.

When asked once what kept him motivated to perform as The Cramps for so many years, Lux replied;

“It’s a little bit like asking a ju**ie how he’s been able to keep on dope all these years - It’s just so much fun. You pull into one town and people scream, ‘I love you, I love you, I love you.’ And you go to a bar and have a great rock ‘n’ roll show and go to the next town and people scream, ‘I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.’ It’s hard to walk away from all that.”

Aldi’s store branding looks like it could be a Reform advert - especially with their tagline of ‘Championing Great British Quality’.
May be appealing for some but makes me want to shop elsewhere. 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️
