Woods aren’t just for autumn you know 😉

This is such a fantastic time of year to head the woods, have a play and grab some easy, relaxed photos of your kids as they are now.

I know I know it’s officially Xmas season now but personally I can’t help hanging on for those last autumn leaves and bright cold days.

This year’s Autumn Play Shoots were some of my best yet so a huge thank you to everyone who ventured into the woods with me. It’s always so fun playing with you and your kids in this environment so long may it continue.

Happy Halloween all!

This has always been my favourite holiday but once my son reached Trick or Treat age I was introduced to a whole side I hadn’t seen before.

Children (and teenagers…and adults!) live under so much pressure in their daily lives, most of which has been entirely normalised. School uniforms, orderly queues, indoor voices, sharing is caring - but for one night of the year they get to roam the streets - their streets - dressed as whatever their heart desires (hero’s, ghouls, masks) requesting the golden chalice of childhood from strangers. This one night of absolute freedom to play - often aided by adults - is in many ways the pinnacle of childhood in our society. For one night only children are granted the autonomy to rule the environment they live in.

When you pop along down to a family shoot and they whip out; The Bubbles 😍😍😍😍😍

Ok, full disclosure, I know these guys and have photographed them before and KNOW that they get the way I work; unposed, undirected, lots of chat, chaos very welcome…in fact the more the better. So finally this shoot was a dream, watching the kids play naturally, a few toys lying around, freedom to just be themselves in their own home and absolute trust in me to capture them as they are now.

Happy Father’s Day people - this is by far my most used photo and I can’t quite believe it’s not on my grid 🙈

In my experience Dads pretty much always hate the idea of photos but this one got the memo - just carry on like normal, I’m there to capture your life as it is now, not order you about to present a fake, polished version of you (there’s enough of that out there already thanks!)

To all the Dads and all the kids - those without Dads, those who lost them and those who were never there, those who are fighting to keep a relationship alive and those that beam with joy every time they see each other - I hope you have a wonderful day doing what you love.

(I’ll be over here on the sofa binge watching bridgerton because I am sick 😷🤒😪)

With an unusually quiet summer ahead (thanks uk weather!) I’ve decided to do what I love best and get a few more shoots in the diary.

These shoots will be 100% free but please note any images purchased after will be £20.00 each. There is no obligation to buy and I will be doing full gallery discounts if that is of interest.

As ever I am eager to work with families who are comfortable allowing their kids to play freely, uninterrupted and unposed. But please don’t worry about the weather - I can capture amazing memories at your home (yes, even if it’s small/messy/unfinished) in a soft play or even in the rain itself! Anyone for puddle-jumping 😊
