Concepción Volcano, Isla Ometepe, Nicaragua.

I had planned on shooting a different location on the island this afternoon but was unable to locate a vantage point. This was a happy plan B, I arrived as the skies were clearing leaving this beautiful golden light, and rushed straight to this idyllic scene away from the crowd.

In the 1600's a Spanish priest descended into this Volcano crater with a bag and shovel believing the lava was pure gold, (he made it back alive). Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua is one of the only places in the world where you can visit the crater rim and watch the bubbling lava, and defintely one of the highlights of my time there.
