Show up is Show off...

You've got to love being a show-off in order to be seen in the online world.

That's how I used to feel about showing up online. And that is why I resisted for a long time.

But then, I discover this cannot be further from the truth.

Some of the people that I am grateful to have come across hardly resemble my idea that you need to be a show-off to show up and make a huge impact online.

Seriously,
There's the quiet grandma artist teaching her craft.
There is the stuttering marketing expert supporting other business owners.
There is the mum you bump into at the school pickup queue who is supporting other mums.
There is even the calm and collected medical doctor who helps medical students to pass their medical exams.

The list goes on....
And they are all crushing it.

None of them fit into my idea of being vivacious, being an exhibitionist, looking apart on screen, dancing and pointing to text on social.

Nope, you don't have to be celebrity-like to be visible in the online space....

Everyone is on an equal footing.

It has nothing to do with whether you are a confident performer, an eloquent speaker, or someone with a big personality.

It's all about being exactly who you are and knowing who it is, that you are speaking to.

It's about the art of capturing people's attention in a noisy space AND how to KEEP their attention.

Everyone and anyone can make an impact online.

Just come as you are and show up.

Never judge a book by the cover!

I recently read a story with this message behind it.

Iโ€™m sure we all heard this saying many times and understand the moral behind it very well.
We should never make any judgement on anything or in fact anyone by how it or oneโ€™s look.

But the hard truth is, we all judge and make decision based on how something or someone look. We do it subconsciously especially in this content overload online world.

How many times while you are scrolling on your phone, have you stop your scroll and click into a post when you see an eye-catching image of something or someone?

Have you ever discounted someoneโ€™s business because their website looks unprofessional?

If you have, you are not alone.

Because we all form judgment from what we see without us even thinking twice about it. We are all visual being. Itโ€™s how we are wired biologically.

That is why your visual marketing assets matter.
That is why the photos you post with your social media post and your websites do make a difference when it comes to capturing attention and making you and your business more visible and more importantly, stand out (in a good way) from others.
