Happy Lunar New Year from the Brooklyn Museum! 🧧🐇
2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. People born in rabbit years (2011, 1999, 1987, and so on) are said to be quietly smart, alert and responsible.
Every 40 years, the cycle of five elements meets the cycle of 12 animal signs, to give us the Year of the Water Rabbit. People born in water rabbit years are said to be gentle but sophisticated. For the rest of us, a rabbit year is supposed to be calmer and more harmonious than the preceding tiger year, and because rabbits are associated with fertility, a rabbit year is believed to be a good time for productivity.
May your 2023 be peaceful and prosperous!
