Aurora Over Balvaird Castle - Perthshire, Scotland.
Last Night's Aurora was amazingly powerful. I originally did not check the forecast for aurora in particular, and plopped my setup down on the front lawn to do some deep sky astrophotography on the Witch Head Nebula (this coming soon). As soon as I looked north my jaw dropped as it was by far the strongest dancing green swirls I have ever seen in Scotland, up to at least 40 degrees in the sky, with huge red pillars above that. I caught it stronger by my home (see my story and more pictures soon); but quickly got in the car and drove to my nearest favourite castle to capture a nice red pillar right over the beautiful Balvaird Castle. The shiny specs in the foreground are ice; it eventually got down to minus 6...
