MEDIUM FORMAT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY.

A new offering.

35mm film wedding photography has truly been riding the trend wave in the past few years, and I am totally here for it! However, I think film is more than just a passing trend.
Couples are identifying with the nostalgia, connecting with the feeling I truly think you can only harness with film.

So why Medium format? It's a larger format, more detail is retained, and less grain generally speaking compared to 35mm Film. With less shots per roll, this really allows me to capture the highest quality, the most considered moments and details from your day.
This is not just a standard film type.
This IS the standard I want to set.

While 35mm film for KRog is going nowhere, medium format allows me to give my couples something more discerning.

More detail, more atmosphere, more artistry.

Hi I’m Katie. A true Gemini (friendly, fun, friendly, again).
Tea and iced lattes on rotation.

I live with my husband of 11 years, and our very soppy rescue cat, Boo.

I like slow mornings, walks in the woods, runs in the park, and getting to behave like a silly child with my two little nieces.

Dislikes are soggy biscuits that drop in your tea, guessing your foundation shade online and getting it completely wrong, and only reading one book at a time.

I tell myself I can play the piano and speak French - in reality, I can play a bit of Taylor Swift and order a croissant without offending the French too much.

I’ve always been drawn to fashion and film - the way something is cut, styled, lit, and how it all comes together to tell a story. It’s a big part of how I see weddings too.

You’ll usually find me at the theatre or a gig when I can, with a soft spot for anything a bit theatrical. Cinema is the other love of my life and I find it very hard to stop talking about it (I even have a secret film review account).

What I love most though, is meeting like-minded people and photographing their weddings. I’ve been doing it for over 8 years now, creating images that feel effortless, considered, and true to the day.

It’s all in the details - but only when they’re done properly.

A champagne tower that actually gets used. Signature cocktails that make your friends go 'oh yes, of course they're having Espresso martinis.' Florals that carry through everything - from the tables to the cake to the dress. Even the dog making an appearance, albeit in their own subtle way.

This is what personalisation looks like when it’s done well.

When the vision is clear from the start, everything else follows.

Holly and Jamie created a day that felt immersive from beginning to end. The ceremony glowing in gold at Fitzrovia Chapel, followed by a candlelit, music-filled evening at Broadwick Soho.

Every detail carried through — the textures, the colour, the sense of occasion. Guests stepped into it, and the atmosphere built naturally from there.

A wedding that didn’t hold back, and didn’t need to.

My grandad gave me some advice a long time ago ‘if you see an opportunity, grab it with both hands!’.
It’s advice I never forgot and often think of when it comes to decisions big and small, especially with my business.
An opportunity arose recently to do more of something I love with - a film workshop where absolutely no digital cameras were allowed!

Finding film photography again has been such a joy, as I get to share that connection to film with my couples when they get their gallery.

This workshop would be the perfect opportunity to play with it more and stretch my skills.
Off I went with some pals to Wales (not exactly in my neighbourhood), but it was so worth it.
To slow down, to really look at light and detail without the forgiving nature of digital was wonderful.

The vibe of the shoot took me back to a happy creative place, gothic literature (Dracula is my all time fave).
With the light and dark. Deep colours.
I’ve felt so inspired by the Gothic Renaissance in cinema and music recently, think Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Florence and the Machine and Lady Gaga’s Mayhem tour.
Particularly in my medium format frames (the square ones), I can really see this balance of light and shadow coming in.

What’s the point of sharing this I asked myself? When you invest in your photographer, you’re investing in their creativity, their skills, their joy.
Your joy becomes theirs, and vice versa.
So when you’re looking for your photographer, find someone who makes you feel that excitement in sharing your story, and then trust them to tell it with all the tools they possess!
When you find them, grab them, grab that opportunity to work with them because you won’t get it again.

I'm calling it - 2026 will be the year of the calla lily.

Clean lines, quiet confidence, and sculptural form - they’re stepping back into the spotlight. This time, it’s less “traditional bouquet,” more “design statement.”
