My new A3 wall calendar: Awen y Garreg Las Calendr 2027 celebrates the beauty of the Preseli mountains. Here is my July photo:
Carn Ingli ("Angel Mountain") is the exposed, frozen magmatic heart of an ancient Ordovician volcano. When the dolerite cooled 450 million years ago, Earth's magnetic field was completely reversed. Today, that ancient "fossilised" field remains so strong that it overpowers the planet's modern magnetism, causing hikers' compasses to go haywire at the summit.
