Built in 1277 by Edward I of England as part of his conquest of Wales, Aberystwyth Castle was once a powerful coastal stronghold. Destroyed during the Glyndŵr uprising in the early 1400s, what remains now stands quietly against the sea, shaped by centuries of weather and time.

A century on, the Aberystwyth War Memorial continues to honour those from the town who lost their lives in war.
Set against the sea, it stands as both a tribute and a reminder.

Another dabble with black and white.
An old abandoned chapel in rural Pembrokeshire, a faded memory of Sunday mornings, hymns carried on the wind, and a time when places like this were the heart of a community.

Now it just sits quietly at the side of the road, easy to pass without a second glance, but still holding onto its story if you stop long enough to notice.

Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK
All the feeling of a busy seaside town… just without the people.

You can almost hear the chatter, the clinking glasses, footsteps on the cobbles.
But for a moment, it’s just the rain and the quiet in between.

Nolton Haven, Pembrokeshire
Fun fact…I nearly died on this beach.
When I was a baby I was at the beach with my family, laid on a picnic blanket at the edge of the beach. My mum could hear a commotion on the rocks above and as she looked up she saw a horse falling down the cliff. Thankfully my Uncle grabbed me just in time before the horse fell right where I was laying.
Now, however this is one of my favourite beaches!

At low tide the beach stretches right out, with these ripples in the sand left behind as the sea pulls back
and by high tide, most of it disappears again

It’s part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path too, so you get some of the best views just walking in

Golden hour just hits different round here…

The light turns everything soft, even with the turbines sat there in the distance.
Bit of a mix of nature and man made, but somehow it still just works.

I love finding things like this…
No signposts, no crowds, just something unexpected, quietly sitting in the dunes at Barmouth.

Makes you wonder how long it’s been there… and how many people have walked straight past without noticing.

Canaston woods - Pembrokeshire
This is where my parents met, both working for the Forestry Commission… and somehow that makes every walk here feel a little more meaningful.

The same trees, the same paths… just different moments in time.

I think some places stay with you, even when people can’t 🤍

This is the photo that started it all for me, not because it was perfect… but because it meant something.

This is my other half, stood looking out to sea just after finishing chemo for lymphoma and getting the all clear.

And something about it hit me. The reflection, the light, the quiet… it told a whole story without saying a word.

That’s when I realised that taking photos is more than just capturing what something look likes, it’s about telling a story, capturing emotions, telling stories and conveying a message.

I accept the imperfections in the editing, the subject could have been sharper, the composition isn’t perfect but that isn’t what I see when I look at this image, what I see is a survivor taking a moment to reflect on everything that’s happened.

I’d love to know… was there a photo that started it all for you?

Llawhaden Castle, Pembrokeshire

The stones of Llawhaden Castle have stood watch for centuries…

Light spills through the arch, but the silence still lingers in the walls.

Some places hold more than history.
