Now that Halloween and bonfire night are officially out of the way is it ok to drop the big C word. Well I have been working on some of my Christmas recipes and these are my bakewell mince pies. Full of fruit that has been soaked in brandy and mixed spice then topped off with crumbly almond frangipane they taste incredible.

Some days only a burger will do and not just any burger but the best burger that you can make. You can’t beat a good half roast chicken and when it’s marinated in fiery Portuguese piri piri it is just incredible. Made from chilies, garlic, lemon, paprika and fresh herbs it can really add a zip to your dinner.

Is there such a thing as too much chocolate? I don’t think that it’s possible. My dark chocolate brownies with chocolate sauce is as close to a chocolate overload as you can get. But I still can’t resist coming back for seconds.

In my day job I am a head chef at a school and ensuring the children get there 5 a day is important to me. This dish never fails. Blend in lots of roast butternut squash into the cheese sauce and it just looks like you have used coloured cheese in the sauce. The kids go mad for it. #

Tonight’s Saturday night fakeaway. Amazing Nasi Goreng. Indonesian egg fried rice with king prawns, topped off with a fried egg and some hot sauce all served with a cold frosty beer. Makes not going out on a Saturday night worth it.
