There’s something so fascinating about watching nature do something that feels almost impossible.

Last night’s eclipse was a beautiful reminder of just how incredible the world around us is.

The fact that scientists can predict these events down to the exact time, and even know when they’ll happen years into the future, completely amazes me.

This was the second eclipse I’ve seen in my lifetime, although, I have to admit, I think I’m more of a sunset girl!

Did you manage to see it from Liverpool or anywhere else around the world? And did anyone else notice their iPhone randomly showing a moon in their photos?

Train trip to Birkdale!

We actually visited to Birkdale back in February, but it was pitch black and absolutely freezing. We’d only really seen the beautiful Coast Birkdale restaurant, but we were so impressed we promised ourselves we’d come back in the summer. This weekend, we finally did it!

I haven’t been on a Liverpool train for over 15 years, so I was genuinely blown away by how easy it all was. You literally just tap on, tap off. Tappy happy!

I’d also been wondering if I could take my dog on the train, but there were automatic ramps, it was really accessible and the train was clean and spacious.

And just to say, this isn’t an ad for Merseytravel just my honest opinion. I was really impressed by how much it’s changed.

First stop was Coast Birkdale for frozen cocktails. A frozen daiquiri and frozen mojito on a sunny afternoon were very welcome. And of course, chunky chips to soak them up because I’m pretty sure that’s an unwritten rule!

Birkdale was buzzing in the nicest way, with everyone making the most of the sunshine in the beer gardens and sun terraces.

Next was Limoncello Restaurant where we sat outside overlooking the tree lined street. Of course I had a limoncello, and then became slightly obsessed with the gorgeous lemon mirror imported from Italy.

Then it was off to The Park pub for another drink and another lovely beer garden. By this point we needed some shade, so we cooled down inside before jumping back on the train to Liverpool.

It was a gorgeous day, and this is your sign to explore what’s right on your doorstep too.

Jump on a train. Pick a little town. Take the dog. Find a beer garden. Have a drink. Eat some chips. Make the most of these gorgeous summer days while we’ve got them.

You really don’t have to travel miles to have a brilliant day and Merseytravel have made it easy!

Birkdale, we loved you.

What a special and intimate evening celebrating Craig Anthony Cavanagh and the launch of his brand-new EP, 13 Summers Later at Daffodil

It was a beautiful night hosted by Anthony John Fowler and filled with fab music, heartfelt stories, great chats, tasty snacks and incredible drinks. - Thank you 🍃PROTEIN BAKES&BARS LIVERPOOL🍃 and MONTZI Bartenders

I’ve always loved being a cheerleader for my friends, and for people and businesses who are doing amazing things. Craig is someone who never fails to amaze me. From the very first day I met him, he’s always had something up his sleeve! From podcasts to acting, events and now music, there never seems to be anything this man can’t turn his hand to.

But beyond all of that, Craig is simply one of the kindest souls. Every time I’ve been to one of his venues or events, he has always made me feel so welcome. He genuinely cares about people, and that shines through in everything he does.

Hearing a little taste of 13 Summers Later was really special. Every song is full of emotion, meaning and a story, but ‘My Dad’s Final Chapter’ really touched me. It brought a tear to my eye, especially hearing the voicemail from his dad at the end. What a beautiful and personal way to honour someone you love ❤️

Including those memories and emotions in his music says so much about the person Craig is.

I was so proud to be in that room, surrounded by his friends and family, all equally proud of him and everything he’s achieved.

Craig, you really do have a way of turning everything you touch into gold. Keep doing what you do, keep inspiring people and keep being you.

I’ll always be cheering you on. So proud of you, Craig…. “G’wed!” 🎶✨

✨ Have you seen this new spot on Berry Street yet?

We were invited along to The Black Horse & Rainbow which has just opened and I have to say, I was really impressed!

I’d never been inside this building before, so had no idea what to expect. We arrived on a gorgeous sunny evening and the place was already buzzing.

The outdoor beer garden was packed, the rear terrace was full and there was a lovely atmosphere inside too. Everyone was making the most of the sunshine ☀️🍻

There are four main areas, the main bar, huge outdoor beer garden, rear terrace and a first floor function room.

We headed upstairs and had a lovely table and booth overlooking the streets of Liverpool as the sun started to set. It felt really welcoming, with a traditional feel and some gorgeous seating areas.

And then I spotted the open fire! 🔥 I have no idea why it was on, but I actually loved it because it gave me a little taste of what this place will be like in winter. Cosy evenings, the fire going and drinks flowing. I could almost smell the mulled wine!

We had a few drinks, including cocktails, Prosecco and gin, and of course we had to try the food. The pies were calling us! 🥧

We went for the chicken and vegetable pie and it was absolutely delicious. Proper comfort food and exactly what we needed after an afternoon of drinking!

I was gutted they’d run out of the Scouse pie, but that just gives me another excuse to come back.

I also love that they’re going to have a retractable roof over the beer garden. Such a brilliant idea for those cooler days.

There’s live sport shown inside and outside on huge screens, plus continental beers, cocktails, wines and spirits.

I think this is going to be a really popular addition to Berry Street and I can definitely see myself coming back.

Thank you so much for The Black Horse & Rainbow and Damo Jones for inviting us along, we had such a lovely evening ❤️

Now, who’s coming back with me for that Scouse pie? 🥧

We were invited back to 8 Water Street Bar & Grill Street to try their refreshed, new menu.

We tried a couple of cocktails and mocktails before trying the chicken and lamb kebab served with salad, rice and pitta bread.

Some of the dishes we saw coming out to other tables looked amazing, with cheese pulls like no other and garlic bowls that you could actually eat!

Our meal was really tasty. I loved the mix of the lamb and chicken with the chargrilled flavours. There are still a few more items on the menu I’d love to try, so I guess that’s the perfect excuse to return.

Thanks for inviting us back. And of course, no visit is complete without a little go on the swing! 🍹🍢

I was absolutely made up to be back The Reader to watch Dirty Dancing at the Open Air Cinema, and what a gorgeous night it was.

We were lucky to be upgraded to the table service seats, and they were such a treat.

Our table was all set up with blankets, comfy cushions, candles and of course, popcorn waiting for us. It felt so cosy and wholesome.

Food-wise, we had to try the chicken gyros, and wow... they were unreal! Juicy chicken with chips, salad and sauce – every single bite was delicious. Don’t skip these if you’re visiting! We also tucked into popcorn, ice cream and enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco while the sun went down.

Watching Dirty Dancing as the sun set over Calderstones Park was just one of those perfect summer evenings.

Another thing I loved is that there’s something for everyone. You can bring your own picnic blanket or camping chair, book a deckchair, or go for the table service experience. Whatever your budget, they’ve made sure everyone can enjoy it, and I think that’s so important.

The staff are always so lovely, and it was really nice seeing so many familiar faces again. A little fact that some of you might not know... I actually used to work in an office at The Reader in the Mansion House, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart ❤️

I’ll always support The Reader, whether it’s coming to the open air movie, visiting an arts market, or popping in for a coffee. They do so much for the community, and it’s something I’m really proud to support.

Thank you so much for inviting us. It was another unforgettable evening with the best atmosphere.

Nestled in the beautiful Calderstones Park, with plenty of parking and surrounded by nature, it’s one of my favourite places to spend a summer evening. If you’ve been thinking about booking, this is your sign 💃🌅✨
