On Tuesday this week I had the pleasure of returning to the University of Gloucestershire (via Teams) to deliver an alumni talk to the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography students as part of The Working Professional module.
I don’t keep my page as up to date as I’d like, but this felt like the right moment to share - a chance not only to talk about my journey, but to properly pause and reflect on it too.
Looking back over the past five years since graduating, the experience really reinforced how important it is to:
• Stay self-reflective
• Keep space for the work that fuels your passion
• Recognise and celebrate progress along the way
Sharing parts of my journey - from early work with a production company in my final year, to documenting community life in The Gambia, to seeing my work published in The Daily Telegraph - was a powerful reminder that careers rarely follow a straight line, but every step builds the bigger picture. 💡📸 📰
A big theme we discussed was the value of networking and staying connected. So many opportunities come from conversations, collaborations, and simply putting yourself in the room (or on the call).
I’m really grateful for the opportunity and for the perspective it’s given me on where I want to take my work next - especially my long-term documentary and passion projects.
If you’re interested in working together - whether that’s B2B, events, weddings/christenings, or portraiture - my messages are always open 📲
And if you’re a photographer starting out and need a bit of guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to help where I can. 📸🙌🏼
