Cruise Ship Nieuw Statendam slipped into Lough Foyle on Saturday morning on its inaugural call to Foyle Port, anchoring at Greencastle.

It is currently on a 28 day cruise around the Artic & British Isles, sailing round from Killybegs on Friday night and is heading to Greenock in Scotland next.

At 297m long it is the longest Ship to enter Lough Foyle, built in 2018 & refurbished 2023, Gross Tonnage 99500, it sails under the flag of the Netherlands, and carries approx. 3000 guests & 1000 Crew.

A damp and cooler day, but we hope that everyone visiting had a wonderful day and a safe onward journey.

Cruise Ship the Marina slipped into Lough Foyle this morning just after 0730 on a visit to Foyle Port and what a lovely morning for the visit.

The ship is 240m long, built 2011 & refurbished in 2024, GT 66084, sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands, carries approx. 1350 guests with about 800 crew and is operated by Oceania Cruises

The ship is currently on a 45 day cruise from Italy to Southampton and has arrived this morning from Ullapool, Scotland. The ship is due to depart Greencastle at 7pm this evening for Dublin.

Spirit of Discovery sailed into Lough Foyle this morning from Belfast on its inaugural visit to Foyle Port.
The Cruise Ship is 237m long, built in 2019, refurb 2023, GT 58250, sails under the flag of the UK, carries approx 1,000 guests with 525 crew and is operated by Saga Cruises.

The Village of Ballykelly is situated in the County of Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

The village was expanded in the 18th & 19th century by the London Company of Fishmongers and during WW2, RAF Coastal Command operated a number of Airfields on the shores of Lough Foyle, with RAF Ballykelly being one of them. The runways of the airfield can be seen in the top right of the photograph.

The Northern Ireland Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has it's HQ in Ballykelly, in a new state of the art building.

It was too windy today on the North Coast for drone flying, so we spent the afternoon watching others fly their bigger aircraft at City of Derry Airport.

We spotted this Spanish Airline AlbaStar Boeing 737-81Q with Reg EC-NAB, landing from Lourdes and departing later for Cork.
