As the leaves start to fall its a great time to see these tiny Goldcrests jumping around the bushes and hedgerows looking for insects.

I was lucky enough to watch this beautiful female kingfisher from the aptly named kingfisher hide at the welsh wildlife centre a couple days before someone decided to burn it down :(

The male Common Blue butterfly has bright blue wings with a brown border and white fringe. The female is brown with a blue ‘dusting’ near the body. They can be found in grassland across the UK between April and October.

The black-and-yellow-banded caterpillars of the Cinnabar moth feed mostly on Common Ragwort but in many areas across the uk Ragwort is removed because of the danger to horses and cattle making this beautiful moth an increasingly rare site.

Its that time of year again where all the young fledglings leave the nest. At this stage some are still struggling to fly but as helpless as they may look it is important not to pick them up unless they are in immediate danger as the parent birds will more than likely be close by keeping an eye on them.
