If motherhood is feeling loud today, this is for you.
Here are a few grounding techniques that might help.
Look at your baby/child. Notice how small their hands are, how soft their eyelashes are, the folds or creases in their hands, the way the light catches their hair, the specks in their iris - then look at it, really take it in.
Close your eyes. Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts Breathe out through your mouth of 8 counts. Repeat.
Take your shoes and socks off. Stand on the floor. Shift your weight so it is evenly spread across your feet. Notice how the floor feels on your feet.
Go to a window/go outside. Tune in to each of your senses. What can you see, hear, feel, smell, taste?
All of these techniques are really simple. They are about bringing you into the present moment and shifting your focus way from what is overstimulating you.
