One of the most exciting things about my line of work is that there is always lots to learn (a blessing and a curse that can lead to imposter syndrome but that's a discussion for another post!).
Since becoming a fully fledged adult, I've discovered that I have a craving for knowledge - sadly, this did not make an appearance when I was at school, but I've always had a curious mindset and a desire to be better. Not in a competitive way, just a better version of me and what I have to offer.
So it will be of no surprise to you that I love a good workshop.
I saw a training day advertised in a group that I get a lot of value from. There are some highly regarded photographers in there who are happy to share their knowledge and experience. It was a headshot workshop, a service that I already offer but I wanted to attend in the hope that I'd get some snippets of knowledge that will help me to elevate my offering. When I last attended something similar I was hyper focussed on the technical aspect of the work, not the processes or the client interaction.
I wanted to watch an expert at work, and boy, did Martin deliver. I had light bulbs pinging left, right and centre! Yes, there was lots of use of flash, but these light bulbs were ideas, pennies dropping and ah-ha moments.
So I've spent the morning thinking about my headshot offering and where I can make some small improvements and can't wait to get out there and start implementing them.
Here's a photo of me taken on Tuesday, we all agreed that I needed to write a book so that I could use this image on the cover. I haven't come across any authors who get their author headshot BEFORE writing the book, but I love pushing boundaries! I have no idea what the subject matter of said book is going to be - please pop your suggestions below and I'll start writing...😆
