Is this one of the best views in the Lake District?
I’m pretty sure it’s up there.

You’re genuinely spoilt at Lodore Falls from the jetty on Derwent Water to the heights of Surprise View, every direction gives you something incredible.

J&J timed it perfectly, slipping out between the showers for there photos to catch this beautiful light over Derwent Water with Skiddaw in the background. Absolute magic!

🎤 S P E E C H E S 🎤

A great wedding speech shouldn’t just aim for laughs at the couple’s expense – though what best persons speech would be complete without a little friendly embarrassment? A truly memorable speech is filled with love, emotion, and a journey that brings everyone along for the ride.

Donna’s daughter absolutely nailed it, delivering one of the most heartfelt speeches I’ve ever heard, at for Donna and Daniel’s wedding. Laughter turned to tears of joy and emotion.

Here are my 5 top tips for a great wedding speech:
1. Make it Personal – Share stories that connect with the couple and the guests, highlighting moments that reflect who they are.
2. Keep it Balanced – Mix humour with heartfelt moments. A little humour goes a long way, but remember to leave space for genuine expressions of love.
3. Practice, Don’t Memorise – Practising helps you feel confident but aim to speak naturally. Don’t worry about getting every word perfect – it’s the sentiment that counts. And put the phone down!
4. Stay Authentic – Speak from the heart, using your own voice. People connect most with speeches that feel genuine.
5. End on a High Note – Close with a meaningful toast or a wish for the couple’s future.

Ps Bonus tip: GOOGLE, whilst a great source of inspiration where to start or for a nice joke but everyone has spent so long on Google thier wrist hurts, had cakes in tears, and who doesn’t honeymoon in Bangor these days 😉

I am often ask what my favourite part of a wedding day is, for me it’s the moment just after you have finished your ceremony and meet your family friends. The love the joy all the hugs and confetti. That pure excitement and love on the air, is my favourite but of the day.

What are your favourite parts of the wedding day?

For the love of film

Something different, way back before we got busy snuck of for a lighting visit to Copenhagen (10/10 would recommend) and having recently dug out Hannah’s collection of film cameras I took two with me, one black and white (still to be developed) and one colour roll of film in each.

There is something tuely magical about shooting on fillm, did you get the photo, is it in focus, or even exposed. Has the camera had a light leak. So many questions it could be the best photo of your life it could be 💩. And none of this you will know till you get it developed, in my case many months later.

There was joy and excitement when the email from landed. I couldn’t remember what I had photographed have they even exposed. Well most where 💩 but my “artistic” night shots, never iso 200 film at night 😂 didn’t come as bad as I expected and they bought me right back to that trip.

Plus then the added joy of some shots from a family trip trip Blea Tarn I forgot I took the camera along to.

In a world of everything being instant and 10s of thousands of photos on my iPhone it’s nice to forgot and be surprised by what you took.
