Leeds Photographic Society We are a friendly and active group, with members of all ages and abilities from beginner to professional. We hold meetings on Tuesday evenings in Roundhay.

Visitors are very welcome. The Leeds Photographic Society is a friendly group of people of all ages with a common interest in photography. We meet at St Edmunds Church Hall, Lidgett Park Road, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 1JN on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm; once a week in winter and once a fortnight in summer. Our abilities span all levels, from beginner to professional, and we have around 110 members. Our

meetings include competitions, outings and presentations given by both visiting speakers and our own members. To see work by our members and receive news of our activities in your timeline, click to'Like' our page. If you would like to join us just call in to one of our meetings. New members are always very welcome, whether just taking up photography, or wanting to find like minded people to bounce ideas off. For our next session at the LPS, we look forward to welcoming guest speaker Stephen Bavill, President of Leeds Camera Club.

We will be having a Photo Walk around Leeds University on Saturday 5th Sept 2026. Both members and non-members welcome.

Meet at 1pm by the reception area outside the entrance to the Brotherton Library inside the Parkinson Building.

The walk is very loosely based on highlights of the public art trail around the University campus set up in 2025, and takes in artworks by such leading lights as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Eduardo Paolozzi. There is also great architecture, ranging from Victorian red-brick to internationally acclaimed modernism that looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. There are pockets of nature too and you’ll see plenty of wild rabbits.

You’ll discover a connection with a Beatles song lyric, and we’ll probably finish the day in one of the traditional pubs that have served generations of students well after a hard day studying.

The walk will take about 2 hours but allow 3 hours as there’s lots to see and take photos of.

We have a great line up of Speakers coming up this season, as well as Competitions, Practical evenings and Members evenings.

We meet every Tuesday evening in Roundhay. Our first session is on the 1st September... Visitors are welcome (Free)... come along and find out what we do before becoming a member.

As well as our regular Tuesday meetings, we have ad hoc meetups and photo walks.

All types of cameras welcome, including phone cameras.

I love seeing the other members’ images, and although having my images critiqued can be a bit scary, it can also be incredibly helpful. My photography has improved massively since being a member of LPS as I have a better understanding of what makes a good image. Try it yourself and see! 🙂"

Visitors are welcome to come along to the session for FREE to check us out before becoming a member. We'll be having a quick look at the programme, launching the new monthly Alphabet Challenge and then settling back and enjoying members' photos taken over the summer break.

In photography you never stop learning and getting new ideas. Hearing from other members talk about their work in a photography club is a great way to get inspired.
