I drove up the mountain on the night of August 13th to capture the Milky Way together with the Aristarchos Telescope at Helmos Observatory in the Peloponnese, Greece, 2,340 meters above sea level on the Neraidorachi peak.
August nights in Greece stay hot until morning, but up there it was 10°C, with strong winds, heavy clouds and mist. I was disappointed at first, but I waited it out and was eventually rewarded with a few clear moments, just enough to catch both the telescope and the galaxy.
On the way home to Nafplio, a wild boar hit my car in a remote Arcadian village. My father and I were fine - only the car was damaged. The boar ran off, so I assume it's still out there.

I hope to return soon to this breathtaking place, where the telescope was used for laser communication with NASA's Psyche spacecraft.
