An early Autumnal day in Stonehaven with Owen, Ellie and two very cute dogs, Skye and Gino. The beach, harbour and Dunnottar woods were visited, with Gino loving being in the water, Skye passed on the chance for a dip!

I'm available for family photo shoots and pets are always welcome, especially if they enjoy the outdoors. You can get in touch with me through my contact page below.

A foggy scene on Sunday for the Tall Ships in Aberdeen, but worth visiting to see these magnificent ships. I attended the first time they docked at Aberdeen in 1991, and recall it was a sunnier day then. Great to see Aberdeen buzzing with so many people and a friendly atmosphere. I didn’t manage to get on any of them, the queues were massive.

When in Andalusia a visit to an Andalusian horse show is definitely worth taking in. After a sherry tasting in Xerez the horses and riders delivered a fantastic show, with the skills of both the riders and horses very impressive. A packed showroom and shade from the burning sun, a great afternoon.

It’s the R. W. Thomson Memorial Classic Car Show this Sunday, the 29th, at Mineralwell Park, Stonehaven. I had a wander through last year and spotted an old Dennis fire engine that my father would have trained on when starting out as a retained firefighter back when I was a nipper. There were also quite a few Minis, the car we had when I was very young; I still recall the seats scalding your legs from the summer sun through the windows. More details of the event can be found on their page, R.W Thomson Memorial Classic Car Show.

A fantastic effort and amazing work from Robert, Scott and the crew, the volunteers, the bands, the food vendors and everyone who came along and drunk some amazing beers and ciders. The amount of work that's put in to the event and all for local charities and groups, is amazing. Happy to have done my bit over the weekend and looking forward to MSBH 2026. Hail the ale 🍻

We did it – £53,000 raised for local good causes! 🎉

What an unforgettable Midsummer Beer Happening 2025! With 6,000 visitors over three incredible days, you helped us raise an amazing £53,000 for nearly 20 local charities and groups, bringing our total over the years to £428,000.

From pulling pints to powering through torrential rain, your support – whether as a visitor, volunteer, sponsor, or performer made all the difference.

Huge cheers to Stonehaven Fireballs, Stonehaven Sea Cadets, Friends of Kincardine Community Hospital, RNLI Stonehaven, Stonehaven & District Lions Club, Stonehaven Men’s Shed, Stonehaven Folk Festival, Stonehaven Scouts, Stonehaven Girl Guides, Stonehaven Youth FC, Mackie RFC Youth, Dunnottar School, Stonehaven Amateur Swimming Club, Aberdeen and Stonehaven Yacht Club, Rhythm Dance Nation, Dunnottar Pipes and Drum, Stonehaven Cricket Club, Stonehaven Gymnastics Club, Paws On Plastic and Stonehaven Cycling Club - who’ll benefit from this year’s fundraising.

We’re proud. We’re grateful. See you in 2026.

For all you cyclists out there, the Midsummer Beer Sportive is still open for application, so sign up then enjoy some absolute bangers of beers once you're back on Saturday.

There is still time to purchase a ticket for this evening and tomorrow, with all money raised going to local charities and groups. I'm on site now and looking forward to seeing you all, and trying out the beers.

Final shout for Sportive sign-ups!

This is it — last chance to get your entry in before the ride rolls out! Whether you’re hitting the road, taking on the gravel, or just chasing that beer at the finish line 🍺 — don’t miss out.

The Sportive is tomorrow, so get your name down, dust off the bike, and we’ll see you on the start line.

With only a few days to go before Midsummer Beer Happening, here’s a selection of images from the Saturday, when it’s Hawaiian Shirt day. A day full of colour, great beers, fantastic music and tasty food.

There is still time to purchase your ticket, or even better, you can volunteer with all proceeds going to local charities and groups. I’ve been taking notes on which beers I’m most looking forward to this year, a hint; it’s always stout season. See you in a few days.

More images from the archive.

These are from Midsummer Beer Happening 2016, the first year I was asked to come back and take some images over the weekend. I recall there was a Harry Potter theme on one of the days, hence the pointed hats.

Not long to go before this year’s event, so make sure you have your ticket for it, or volunteer if there are still spaces left. All the money raised goes to local charities or groups, so it’s all in a good cause. Will see you there in June.
