Awful photos as it was peeing down with rain at 7:45am in a tree tunnel, but such an amazing experience. I had to stop my car to let this buzzard catch its prey, stand around for a moment wondering if it could take on a car as well as the rat, and then fly off with its sensible choice of just the rat.

This weekend I had the absolute honour to watch a starling murmuration. There were estimated to be around 750,000 birds coming in to roost. I had no idea what to expect when we set off, but I certainly didn’t think I’d be moved to tears! Such a beautiful and awe inspiring thing to witness. I’m loving the diving duck shape and the eagle that they formed 😍

I love great crested grebes so to get a picture of one like this made my day!

It's been a while since my back/neck has been strong enough for me to go out with my camera so while the sun was shining this morning I decided to head to Bude canal to sit in the hide for a while. The cetti's warbler that I could hear but not see for two hours was slightly frustrating, but this chiffchaff more than made up for it with this stunning display of fly catching. The kingfishers put in a brief appearance along with shovelers, and the usual culprits. So good to be out again.
