Got a good one for you today guys over on the old blog when, at the end of August, I was out at the fabulous Boswells Estate Weddings (honestly, one of "the" best venues - such a welcoming place and great vibe) - the reason? Well, to shoot the wedding of Linzi & Tim ... and what a day it was!!!

"WE FORGOT YOU WERE THERE"

is a comment I hear a lot from couples post-wedding and, common to what you might think, it's music to my ears!

I don't want to be noticed, to be the centre of attention and be that annoying photographer that gets on everyone's nerves.

No - couples book me because I work in the background, documenting the day rather than directing it and if they've forgotten I was still there, well, then I've done my job.

Don't take my word for it though guys - I've been updating my website this week and there's a whole page dedicated to what some fabulous couples have said about their day and the way I've worked.

NEW AWARDS

As always, delighted to have picked up a couple of new awards in the latest round of competition with the Wedding/Elopement Photo Pros.

First up, it's a blue award in round 2 of competition for this shot of the wedding party's entrance to dinner at Effy & James' big day at Lochside Hotel, Lodges & Spa back in May - some day btw!

Secondly, in round 1 of competition with the Artistic Wedding Photographers it's a shot of the guests in sunlight & shade in front of the Forth Bridge at Laura & Connor's wedding at Orocco Pier back in March.

Thank you guys!

As I've mentioned before, I'm not big on the so-called wedding industry awards (eg Confetti, YSW, Scottish Wedding Awards etc) - the judging process is somewhat questionable and begging for votes is just not my thing!

But give me wedding photography awards any day of the week - pictures judged by actual wedding photographers - people who know what they're talking about; then I'm all in.

ON THIS DAY...

back in 2017, I was out and about on my first and, to date, only visit to the Garvock House Hotel in Dunfermline to shoot Hannah & Adam's big day!

En route to the venue from the church we stopped at this place, from recollection it's called the "kissing trees" - looks so peaceful doesn't it! Not so though, if I'd spun the camera 180 degrees you'd see 3 or 4 other wedding cars lining up with photographers looking to do exactly the same thing with their couples!

Still, great location though so worth it and, of course, a "kissing" shot is kind of obligatory!

ON THIS DAY...

way way back in 2012, yes 2012, I was out at the very grand and fabulous Dundas Castle to shoot Brianna & Brett's big day.

This was only the 34th wedding of my career so, fair to say, was still a bit green around the edges. Funny though, even though the way I shoot weddings has changed drastically over the years, I could still see myself doing a shot like this today - it's a bit unusual, a little quirky, not obviously posed and the guys aren't gurning at the camera like cheshire cats - yep, right up my street.

Another "ON THIS DAY" coming at you tomorrow ... assuming I've ever shot a wedding on the 9th Sep of any given year!!!
