This weekend I’ll be swapping my camera for family time as my sister is getting married.

I’m really looking forward to switching off, being present and enjoying all the happy tears, celebrations and probably a fair bit of dancing too!

Looking through old photos has made me feel so nostalgic lately… I actually wish I had more photos of me and my sisters when we were babies. Photos just weren’t as readily available as they are now, and it makes me realise how lucky we are to be able to capture all those little moments so easily.

They really do grow up far too quickly. One minute they’re tiny enough to hold in your arms, and before you know it, you’re looking back wondering where the time went.

I spend a lot of my working days in a quiet studio , with tiny babies curled up in my arms, listening to sleepy little noises and watching new parents completely melt over their baby.

And honestly, there’s something about newborn photography that never becomes “just another shoot.”

I get to walk into these families’ lives at such a fleeting, messy, beautiful point in time, usually somewhere between the coffee that’s gone cold, the bags that were packed in a rush, the feeds, the cuddles and the “sorry, we’re running late!”

Then we slow everything down.

We feed, we settle, we cuddle, we wait.

And eventually, in amongst all of that, I get to capture the tiny details that won’t stay tiny for long.

The little fingers.
The sleepy stretches.
The way they fit so perfectly into mum or dad’s arms.

It’s a pretty special way to spend my days, and I never take for granted that I get invited into these moments.

What I want you to remember

Of course I want you to love your photographs.

But I also want you to remember how tiny they were.

The little fingers.
The chubby cheeks.
The tiny toes.
The way they looked at you.

Because one day you’ll look back at these photographs and realise just how quickly this chapter passed.

That’s why I don’t want your photographs to feel overly posed or complicated.
