It might take you decades to speak up about things
that matter to you, but, being able to speak your truth is a vital
part of being human, of walking with certainty and openness
on the earth, and refusing to be afraid. Once you have found
your voice, you must resist every person who will tell you to
bury or bottle it.

This book. PHOSPHORESCENSE by Julia Baird. I don’t think I ever want to stop reading it. What to do, where to look, when the world goes dark. You know when a book hits you just when you need it the most. I’ve been dipping in and out of it for months as just a page can send me into the most beautiful of thought spirals.

I read this passage sat at Euston station on Tuesday. I keep snapping the bits that really resonate and I’ve a camera roll full now! At the time I was happy but exhausted and it filled me right back up again, reminding me of the fire burning inside me to help everyone be seen, to recognise their own authority, and never ever ever to let their voice be quietened down.

What does confidence mean to you?

At every PHOTO CLUB last month we discussed this as a group and in this video I’ve attempted to distill down some of those thoughts.

The Vibrancy Hub (pictured) have also written a great blog about what it means to them…linked in my bio.

I saw a post recently from the very clever on the lack of productivity she feels when surrounded by mess and how instead a good clean & tidy can rejuvenate stagnant creativity.

It’s the same for me, there’s nothing better than a spot of furniture shuffling for a creative recharge.

So say hello to our new sulking pink wall, providing a rather gorgeous spot of colour to my work surroundings & hopefully the creative kick I need for the 8 days of shooting I now need to edit 👊✨♥️

Other creativity sparking activities for me include:

☕️ Good coffee & a chinwag with biz buddies

🌳 A quiet walk, def alone if ideas are on my agenda

🧘‍♀️ A morning meditation, ideally with music (personal preference) if I’m wanting to check in creatively (total quiet is reserved for moments when I need total calm)

📚 No surprises, I’m a book worm but specifically magazines or non-fiction helps get my creativity firing

SIDE NOTE: Turning magazine reading into vision board creating gets extra creativity brownie points!!! Rather than creating a vision for the future, I’ll sometimes have a more immediate question in mind and flick through magazines as a way to tap into my intuition, ripping out anything that grabs my attention.

🌊 The sea! Not one I can tap into regularly but that fresh ocean air and the sound of crashing waves in particular is like creative magic!

⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ Note that I do not mention sitting quietly with a blank sheet of paper waiting for ideas… this approach literally kills my creative soul.

What’s your go to for a creative boost? I often find we don’t allow ourselves this time, feeling it’s procrastination or a ‘waste’ of time but I am a massive believer you should have space in your work if you’re to truly grow … definitely not easy but if you wanna keep falling in love with what you do I think it’s essential.

Ever find yourself in that conundrum of having loads to share but no time in which to do it? That’s definitely been me of late. I’ve got so much work I’m really proud of from shoots and video after video from PHOTO CLUB that I keep telling myself I’ll turn into various reels but the day job has to take priority.

So in short prepare yourself for a flurry of posts starting with this wonderful human, Sarah of who braved a branding shoot with me 😉 She’s now also a member of PHOTO CLUB so expect more of her on my grid.

Thanks again Sarah for being game for some fun and also to for providing one of my favourite backdrops for shooting in 😊 👍

I’ve found myself daydreaming again about my love of interiors. It’s always been there, since being a very small child who constantly rearranged her bedroom. And I am a child of the eighties so there were plenty of dalliances with black gloss paint 😬 I dreamed often about training in interior design but although I spent lots of money on a course it never happened. So I’m indulging instead my passion for photographing them. Thinking about offering a package for passionate home owners where I photograph your rooms with YOU in them….cos I love all the interiors accounts on here but I wanna see the people behind ‘em too. Just a thought for now. 🤔

My ultimate point being you’ve gotta indulge all your passions! You might not turn all of them into your work, and in fact I’m a strong believer you shouldn’t because some should remain pure passion projects with no other pressures, just pure enjoyment. But life’s too short not to explore all that you love right?

How do you greet the women, and girls in your life?

I’ve become more aware recently of the language I use and the words I choose when I greet a female friend, client or someone for the first time, whether that’s face to face or in messages and email.

‘Hello lovely’

‘Hey gorgeous’

‘Morning beautiful’

In this video I attempt to share my thinking on non-physical compliments with a great deal of help from other women already acting on this. Namely .therapist & .babs

I’m very interested to hear what you think? Are these your go to greetings, have you ever considered using a non-physical compliment? Do you consider it a step too far, over complicating a well-meaning greeting? What greetings do you use?

Absolutely had to share this shot and these words from to start the week off!

from our shoot in February!

When I opened the email from Karen to access my photo's - I must admit that I did it whilst wincing slightly, just at the thought of looking at myself - but I
was SO pleasantly surprised!

Instead, I felt a feeling of
empowerment - which is how we all deserve to feel when promoting ourselves, and our business.

Thank you thank you Karen for capturing such amazing candid shots, you can tell that we had an absolute ball during the shoot too just by looking at them!’

📣 To inspire others to be more visible

📣 To ensure our daughters see that ALL women are worthy of being visible regardless of age, class, race, religion, body size & shape …

📣 Retaining ownership of your own story. No one, NO ONE, can share your experiences, your passion, in as compelling a way as you.

📣 And my personal favourite… no-one else controlling the narrative for women except women! Collectively we can change the views on women by contributing to them and we ALL need to play our part! EVERY SINGLE VOICE MATTERS!

FEMALE FRIENDSHIP

I’ve found myself thinking about this a lot recently and in turn exploring some of my motivation behind creating PHOTO CLUB.

What role has female friendship played in your life? Have you always had solid, heart warming friendships with women or like me have you had negative experiences?

Incidentally I feel like there may be many more ramblings on this from me 😂
