Heston Island, Yesterday.

It lies at the mouth of Auchencairn Bay in the region of Dumfries & Galloway. A lighthouse was built on the eastern side of the island by Alan Stevenson in 1850.

This small island measures approximately 460 by 270 metres (1,510 by 890 feet) and at its highest elevation sits at just over 50 metres (160 feet) above sea level.

A wonderful opportunity to see the work of my very talented friend Sandra Jaekel of Bothyart currently exhibiting at Kirkcudbright Harbour Cottage Gallery.

Sandra creates beautiful original artwork on slate, canvas and wooden panels, and also welcomes commissions. I can personally recommend her work — I can’t thank her enough for the fantastic paintings she has created of my dogs, and several members of my family are also proud owners of her pieces.

Her exhibition is open every day until Saturday 22nd August, so if you’re in Kirkcudbright, it’s well worth a visit.

Here’s a little look around the exhibition… šŸŽØ

I wasn’t lucky enough to catch the solar eclipse, just a nice time lapse looking towards the marina.

Great progress is being made on Core Path 13, following part of the River Dee to Tongland Bridge. It’s fantastic to see this wonderful project taking shape, and it will make such a difference for local people once completed.

A huge well done to James Smith Fencing Limited for the excellent work. Hugo can’t wait to get his little paws on the new path! 🐾
