It’s always pleasing to receive such glowing testimonials from clients.

“LADAMA has been delighted to work with JJM Photography and can’t thank John enough for all his help and support. John perfectly captured our production of We Will Rock You – his photographs captured the energy and fun of the show and gives the cast lasting memories of an unforgettable show week. John went above and beyond coming to two rehearsals of the show so that he knew exactly what to capture when the dress rehearsal came around and that attention to detail went a long way. Thanks John from a delighted LADAMA cast and crew.”

I was delighted to be asked to photograph production of 'We Will Rock You' at the Lochgelly Centre recently. I have been a fan of the music of Queen for more years than I care to remember so I really enjoyed becoming immersed in this production. Here are just a few of the many shots I took for the company. I am currently looking for more opportunities in the theatre photography genre so if you have an upcoming production and are looking to engage a photographer then please get in touch.

An unexpected but very welcome shout out from Kirkcaldy & Dysart YMCA AFC. I provide photography services for the club on match days. My involvement with the club has helped open doors for me in other fields as its provided me with a portfolio of sports images. Already looking forward to next season in the premier division.

SPONSOR SHOUT-OUT

Today we'd like to give a special thank you to one of our valued sponsors and the man behind many of the fantastic photos you see from our matches, JJM Photography.

From big goals and crucial tackles to celebrations, team photos and memories that will last a lifetime, his work allows players, coaches, supporters and families to relive the season long after the final whistle.

The quality and dedication shown behind the camera is second to none, and we're incredibly fortunate to have such a talented photographer supporting YM Amateurs.

A few weeks ago I teased about a future theatre show that I had been invited to photograph. I can now reveal all. I was delighted to be asked by Lochgelly and District Amateur Musical Association to photograph their production of the Queen and Ben Elton musical "We Will Rock You" which is on at the Lochgelly Centre this week. As I write this, the Saturday matinee show will be under way which means you have one last opportunity to go and see this wonderful show tonight. I popped in during the dress rehearsal to capture these shots which tell the story of the show. As usual with theatres I was faced with some difficult lighting conditions. My Nikon Z8 continues to impress me with the quality of the images it produces. Even at high ISO figures the noise levels are acceptable but if necessary I find that the noise reduction in Photoshop can always rescue a noisy image to produce a clean result. I have been a fan of Queen for many years, I think one of the first records I ever bought was Bicycle Race back in the seventies, so I really enjoyed covering this show for LADAMA. I'm already looking for further opportunities in the theatre photography genre. Get in touch.

Last night was the running of the annual Black Rock race in Kinghorn. I always like to go down and photograph this event as you can get some good shots of the runners on the beach. I started off at the end of the road to get the classic shot of a line of runners snaking along the beach out to the black rock. I then ventured onto the beach to get some closer shots of the runners. Unfortunately for me there was still quite a bit of surface water on the sands, and, with just a pair of light trainers on, my feet got absolutely soaked. Still got some good shots though.

These are my favourite shots from the night but I will get round to doing the rest of them tonight and post them online for the runners to see. If you see yourself in any of these shots and would like a full size digital image without the watermark then just get in touch.

I had an enjoyable jaunt over to the Isle of May yesterday with colleagues from Kirkcaldy Photographic Society. There were plenty of birds around but we were perhaps a few weeks early for peak puffin season when there are chicks needing fed. Almost trod on an Eider duck that had decided that the best place to nest was right next to the path that humans walk on. Also managed to find a pair of nesting s**g that had hatched two chicks. First time I have been on the May for over twenty years and I can't wait to go back.

I purchased the Nikon FtZ adapter to allow me to use my Sigma 150-600mm lens on the Z8. I found it a little slow to find the focus but once it had locked on it tracked the birds with no problem. I wonder if perhaps Nikon have identified that its a non-Nikkor lens and maybe engineered a deliberate slow down in there, because I did not have the same issues with a native Nikkor lens. I also felt the final focus from the big Sigma was perhaps just a little soft compared to the results from my Nikkor lenses.

Lots of photos of birds to follow and then a landscape of Pilgrims Haven because I do like a good landscape.

Last night was my last football game coverage of the season. Kirkcaldy & Dysart YMCA AFC took on league champions Benarty Astros AFC in the quarter final of the league cup. YM scored in the opening minutes to take an early 1-0 lead. Despite continuous pressure from the visitors they held on until almost half time when the Benarty pressure was rewarded with a penalty. A fantastic save from the YM goalie unfortunately rebounded into the path of an opposition player who calmly slotted home the equaliser. 1-1 at the break. Benarty pushed hard after the break and were soon 2-1 up after a header from a corner. The YM came back into it and piled on the pressure looking for an equaliser. They created multiple chances but were unable to convert any before the ref blew for full time. So YM end their season with an exit from the cup at the quarter final stage. They have much to celebrate though when they look back on their inaugural season in the KoFAFA Championship, not least second place in the league, just 1 point behind the winners, and promotion to the Premier division for next season. Here are my shots from the game.

On the photography front, my old workhorse D750 started playing up during this game. I was checking some shots on the back screen and it locked up. I noticed it was registering a card error and so I switched it off. With the power off the image on the rear screen stayed there. Switched on then off then on again and it started working again. It did this twice. Replaced both cards and tested thoroughly during the remainder of the game and it was happy enough. I'll keep an eye on it for now.

I attended the final league game of the season for Raith Rovers FC on Friday night. A win for Rovers would have seen their opponents Ross County relegated to League 1. The game carried a little bit of an edge with County having denied Rovers promotion to the Premier League just two seasons ago. It turned out to be an eventful night as anyone who watched it unfold on telly would have seen. County got the lead in the first half and held on to take an 0-1 lead into the break. A more attacking Rovers emerged for the second half and found an equaliser through Big Innes on the 75th minute. Four minutes later they got a second from Jack Hamilton to lead 2-1. At that point County were going down. In the 6th minute of injury time County grabbed an equaliser to make it 2-2. They knew a win would mean at the very least a playoff so they pushed hard for the winner in the little time left. That left gaps at the back and Innes Cameron latched onto a loose pass with only the keeper to beat only for the chasing defender to bring him down in the box. Penalty to Rovers in the 98th minute, which was duly dispatched to consign County to the drop. It ended 3-2 to Rovers but in such a highly charged atmosphere there were unfortunately a few afters that saw the visitors Akil Wright shown a red card. So Rovers end the season in 5th place which is just reward for their recent form. I think they can be optimistic about next season and I hope to be there to document their fortunes. I have thoroughly enjoyed covering Rovers matches this season. It has been great experience for me. here are a few of my favourite shots from the last league game of the season.

Well after the conclusion of the league campaign, Kirkcaldy & Dysart YMCA AFC were back at it today, taking on Kettle United in the Championship League Cup. YM were on it from the start and quickly racked up a 3-0 lead. They took that lead into the break. After the break the tempo dropped with YM seemingly happy with their lead which allowed a spirited Kettle side back into the tie. Kettle had the majority of the pressure in the second half but could not convert that into goals. So 3-0 it ended, with YM happy to rest a few legs before a hugely important quarter final tie on Tuesday night against league champions Benarty Astros.
