A post we didn't really want to make....
So far this year, we’ve spent a disproportionate amount of time and money on unexpected repairs, resources that should have been used to push forward with new events and supporting artists and young people.
Like many grassroots music venues, we operate on tight margins, and the start of 2026 has brought a series of unexpected setbacks that have already cost us thousands in repairs.
A break-in left us with smashed windows, stolen equipment, and the cost of replacing locks and installing additional security to protect the space. Then last Tuesday, a customer deliberately tampered and damaged our fire alarm during the evening. This reckless act put our staff and customers at risk and forced us to close early while we made the venue safe.
Since then we’ve spent hours, and more money repairing the system. All of this means vital resources that should be going into new shows, emerging artists, and opportunities for young people are instead being spent on repairs and security, alongside the ongoing maintenance that comes with running a Grade II listed building and event space.
We want to keep providing a platform for new artists, offering work experience to young people, and hosting free-entry events for our community. If you’re able to help, even with a small donation, please consider supporting us via the thankyü app. If our community could help us raise anywhere close to £3,000, it would make a huge difference in helping us recover these unexpected costs and get back to focusing on what matters.

Every donation or share genuinely helps keep us moving forward. We also know how difficult things are for everyone right now, so if you don’t have any spare cash, please feel free to come down to our free-entry nights every Tuesday and Saturday, and support a new artist or DJ who deserves an audience!
