Sharing my passion and love for animals through photographyâŚâ¤đ¸
People often ask me how I became a wildlife and pet photographer, they are usually very surprised when they find out Iâve been a Doctor for a huge part of my working life, but animals and photography are my passion.
I was born in Sarawak, in East Malaysia. Sarawak was part of Borneo. It has an equatorial climate with magnificent tropical rainforests and abundant animals and plant species.
I had a very interesting childhood and went to Catholic/Anglican mission schools. I grew up with many Malay and Chinese friends and was exposed to wildlife from a very early age, this is where my passion for animals began.
My father was a civil engineer, he worked in the rural areas building irrigation canals and other structures. During our school holidays , we used to visit him and Iâd see many amazing creatures including crocodiles, orangutans, and exotic birds such as the Great hornbills.
After my O-levels I went to India and obtained my degree in medicine. The culture was very rich and I enjoyed my stay there. Then in 1982 I came to England to further my education and became a GP, eventually settling in Hull where I have worked as a doctor for over 30 years.
