A moment of calm at Start Point last night.

I have not had much chance recently to take time for personal work, so this was a welcome opportunity to slow down and appreciate the wonderful place where we live.

Standing at the edge of the peninsula under the moon, you really get a sense of the history here. This Gothic-style tower has been guiding ships since 1836, overlooking the "tidal race" where the currents collide at the tip of the headland. It is easily one of the most atmospheric spots in South Devon.

The shoot was peaceful, though the aftermath was slightly more chaotic. I spent twenty minutes hunting through the grass in the dark for my glasses, only to find them in my pocket during the walk home along the coastal path.

First spin with the new DJI Mini 5 Pro, kept it local over Kingsbridge while I dialled things in. The town sits snug between the hills with Dartmoor lifting the skyline in the distance, and the autumn light played ball. I kept it steady, testing stability, exposure and how the colours hold on slow pans across the estuary. Even taking it easy, the detail is crisp and the movement is smooth, which is exactly what I’m after for calm, watchable aerials.

From above you really see how the landscape cradles the town. Patchwork fields rolling towards the moor, rooflines threading the streets, and the estuary drawing the eye out to sea. If you’re local, see how many familiar landmarks you can spot and tell me your favourite moment.

We took some time yesterday to explore the hilltop Château de Rocamadour with my Dutch in-laws. Perched above the dramatic cliffside village of Rocamadour, the castle dates back to the 14th century and once protected the sacred sanctuary below, which drew pilgrims from across Europe. The views from the ramparts are something else! A sweeping panorama over the Alzou canyon and the medieval rooftops below. A proper blend of history, beauty, and peace.

Definitely feels a bit more autumnal, and I am enjoying the slower pace of life. I really must get away more often, I love Devon but I do find it hard to step away from work

This is home for the next week, a much needed break especially after the last few busy weeks. 8.5 hrs drive after a sleepless ferry crossing is exactly what I need to unwind 🤣

Another stunning location and property, this time Cliffhouse in Beesands. They already have great interior photography via another photographer so this was some aerial photography, a 1 minute aerial 'hero' video and floorplans.

I enjoyed shooting drone photos of Cliffhouse, especially from an angle that suggested it was taken from a boat to give an new perspective.

When the client wants to show off the lighting in their new AirBnb listing, we go out of our way to make sure all the lighting details are featured in a natural and complimentary way. From the under cabinet floor level illumination to the triplicate of stylish hanging lamps, all within the context of a well designed beautiful kitchen. This property in Frogmore will soon be listed for rental on AirBnB.

12 hours door to door to door yesterday from Kingsbridge to Sennen Cove and back. This wonderful property with its 270' sea views and backing on to National Trust land is in a perfect location (and with the new road around Truro, much quicker to get to!)

The photoshoot included aerial photography, aerial video showcase, interior and exterior photography and a floor plan all to be used on the new website that we (Cornerstone Websites) are also building.

As we begin an exciting new chapter, we’re seeking a volunteer Treasurer to help keep our finances on track and be part of a vibrant, supportive team.

The current incumbent, John Gardner, will shortly be leaving after 2½ years in the role.

No prior accounting or treasurer experience is required - just a willingness to undertake a monthly cross-check of income and expenditure and to settle the occasional invoice. The commitment adds up to a few hours per month.

You don’t need to be a finance professional – if you’re organised, numerate, and enjoy being involved in the local business scene, this could be a fantastic opportunity.

The role includes managing our accounts and reporting, but it’s not just spreadsheets. We also run bi-monthly evening networking events, so it’s a great way to meet people and make connections.
