An all-star occasion saw the Class of 2026 from a WNAT school attend their end-of-year Prom on Thursday 25 June in style.

The Year 11 leavers from Smithdon High School in Hunstanton were greeted by friends, family, and well wishers as they arrived at Knights Hill Barn in an array of different vehicles, from sports cars and classic motors, to double-decker buses, and even a horse and carriage.

Staff and students past and present gathered for an important milestone, when Marshland High School celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The Centenary Celebration's brought together around 650 students, along with staff, trustees, and governors, headteachers from our feeder primaries, the Mayor and Mayoress of King’s Lynn, and former Secretary of State for Education Baroness Shephard, whose late husband was Headteacher of Marshland in the 1960s.

The occasion was also marked by the burial of a time capsule on the school field, which contained a range of items relating to modern life at Marshland, from photographs, examples of work, and the school uniform, to predictions from current students about what the world will be like when the time capsule is opened in 50 years’ time.

Earlier this week, King's Lynn Town FC unveiled the club's new away shirt. The unusual bespoke shadow-stripe design is based on the floorboards of the town’s Guildhall, upon which Shakespeare reputedly trod.

The smart, dark blue shirt was modelled by a team of Linnets supporters in The Walks and combines a fresh, modern look with a subtle nod to Lynn’s heritage.

Highlights included Amelie Hayward being named Young Musician of the Year, Eleanor King receiving Junior Musician of the Year, and Josie Draper winning the Contribution to Multiple Arts Subjects award. Staff said the evening was a chance to celebrate students' talents and thank families for their continued support.
