This is a solitary wasp, who's name escapes me right now. They dig into old wood, leaving a huge pile of sawdust, and make their nest inside. Once they're done they lay their eggs then stuff the nest full of flies and especially hoverflies.
An interesting wee beastie who doesn't deserve to be squished.

Found this guy, let him chill in the fridge for a bit then took him outside for his glamour shots.
Putting them in the fridge makes them think it's a cold night, they go to sleep and take a good while to wake up, allowing you to get close ups like these.
I did some closer up shots of the head and the pattern of the legs, just for goggles. And a straight down from above shot cos it looks funky.

This is Winston. He's a battlecat. Hes been trying to take territory from Milo, Boss and Mark II (can never remember his name)
He's had fights up and down this street but somehow, despite being bigger than the other boys, he keeps taking second prize!
I think my garden belongs to him but it's more of a time share with Milo, who doesn't really bother so long as he's the only one getting treats at our door.
Winston cannot be a real cat because he runs away from me and won't let me pet him. And we all know cats love me, so therefore Winston is not a cat.

This thing puzzled me for a bit til I remembered Google exists. Looks like a grasshopper and a cicada had a baby doesn't it. Confused me because it looks like a grasshopper but clearly doesn't have _the legs_.
It's a leaf hopper according to Google, and that's about all I know about them right now. That they're green, look like grasshoppers a bit, and they fly.

You know those teeny tiny wee bright red mite things you see sometimes? Theyre practically microscopic? This is one of those. Red spider mite. Apparently they eat sap from the plants they're on. Not sure if they do webs, but they do have 8 legs, as well as a spiky or hairy bum for some reason.
