🎄✨ CHRISTMAS SESSION REMINDER ✨🎄

Christmas is creeping up VERY quickly, so here’s your little reminder to please be super prepared with outfits this year! Most shops won’t have much Christmas stock in until October, and by then all of my Christmas sessions will already be done 🙈

🎅🏼 MERRY CABIN
Think traditional Christmas colours.
Reds, greens, creams, tartans etc are perfect.
Please avoid pinks and blues as they won’t work as well with this set.

❄️ WINTER WONDERLAND
This backdrop is strictly neutrals only
Beige, cream, white and soft neutral tones.

Both studio backdrops are shoes off at the door, so please have easy footwear for everyone.

Please also avoid bringing anyone along who won’t be in the photographs if possible. These backdrops really do need the whole studio, so the seating areas are pretty much non-existent this year - sorry! 😂

Studio Christmas Sessions
17th–20th September

Sessions are 30 minutes only and are completely back-to-back this year. They will be timed so I can stay on schedule and avoid families having to wait outside.

🚗 Parking: Please be mindful of my neighbours when parking as it’s already a busy wee street.

Grasshoppers Nursery
28th–30th September

Granny Smiths Nursery
1st, 2nd & 5th October

Nursery sessions will be shoes ON. This keeps everything moving quickly, keeps the children ready to go and helps the rooms stay on track with timings.

🎄 Jiggys
6th, 7th, 8th, 9th & 12th October

✨ And lastly… turnaround times!

Everything is happening earlier this year because it has already been such a busy year.

The workload that comes with all of these Christmas sessions is absolutely mental -no sugar coating here 😂 Between the studio, nurseries and Jiggys, there are A LOT of little Christmas faces for me to photograph and then edit.

Because of this, I won’t be able to answer individual messages asking when galleries will be ready. As much as I completely understand everyone being excited to see their photos, replying to turnaround messages just takes me away from actually editing them.

Please just know that every gallery will be finished in plenty of time for Christmas. ❤️

I’m a one-woman business, a single parent to J, and there’s a whole lot of juggling happening behind the scenes to make all of this work, so keeping turnaround times super short during Christmas season just isn’t always possible.

I may also be looking at another day in November but these will be with *new backdrops* and limited slots…

I promise I’ll be working my wee Christmas socks off behind the scenes 😂🎄

Thought I’d do a wee about me tonight because there’s so many of you on here now that probably know absolutely nothing about the person actually taking your photos… buckle up 🤓

I’m Ashley the one behind AJ Photography.

AJ is actually Ashley & Jorja - which made perfect sense when I started the business and now means majority of families assume my name is AJ 🤣 Jorja is pretty much the reason all of this exists in the first place.

I’m 31, I have a Golden Retriever called Winnie and between her and Jorja there is genuinely never a dull moment in my house.

I’ve had about 700 different jobs in my life 🤣 I left school and went into hairdressing, realised that wasn’t for me - bounced about doing different things and it wasn’t really until I had Jorja that photography clicked for me.

I’m ridiculously impulsive. If I decide something is a good idea there’s a very high chance I’ve bought everything for it before I’ve actually thought it through 🤣

I’m either working at 100mph doing 14 things at once or wondering why I’ve taken on 14 things at once. There is very little in between.

I absolutely LOVE anything neutral. Cream, beige, brown, warm, cosy… which probably isn’t surprising if you’ve ever seen my work 🤣 I spent years trying different colours and styles before eventually realising I just needed to photograph what I actually loved.

I’m also constantly changing something. The studio, the house, the garden… nothing is ever just finished in my head

And despite me constantly moaning about editing and being behind on messages or having too much to do , I genuinely couldn’t imagine doing anything else now ✨

So yeah… that’s the person you’re handing your baby over to ✨😂

Summer holidays are nearing to an end and it’s absolutely flew in this year!

Jorja has been absolutely amazing this year with me juggling work etc but I still have been a little all over the place and slower at replies.

I’ve got a full busy day today so will aim to reply to people tonight and get orders completed

In the meantime… how is J 9yrs old next month - time really is a thief 🥺✨

It’s a late one … only because there’s some of you that think I’m on holiday till the 27th December 🤣🦌🎅🏼🛷 (oooops)

I stupidly forgot to turn off the away message on my emails - thought I did… and thankfully someone had said that they got my automated message on email - absolutely affronted ahah
Although me saying merry Christmas in July isn’t unheard of 🎅🏼

Still working away, it’s a full editing marathon this weekend and hopefully I can get the most of it down. Thanks for always being super patient - the school holidays are always were it hits the fan 🫣 but we’re getting there… slowly lol

Also a massive thank you for anyone who has been recommending me - the amount of enquiries I’ve had this week alone is crazy 🥹🥹✨

This little family though 🥹… the best compliment I can ever receive is that when families message to say how relaxed and comfortable they felt during their sessions.

The majority of families who step into my studio tell me it’s the first time they’ve left the house since having their baby… and that alone means so much to me!

Those early days can feel overwhelming so the fact that you choose to trust me with your precious new baby and allow me to capture such a special chapter of your lives…is something I’ll never take for granted 🥹✨✨

Sometimes you just need to get outside and dance like nobody’s watching…We both needed this tonight 🥹✨

The last few months have been a little stressful. Business has been much slower over the holidays than I’m used to, and if I’m honest it’s been getting to me. I’ve felt a bit all over the place… messages have taken me longer to reply to, turnaround times have crept up, and I put so much pressure on myself over it all.

But tonight I looked outside saw it was still dry, and instead of sitting worrying, we headed out to brush the cobwebs off

I’m reminding myself that I can’t control everything. The quieter weeks won’t last forever, but moments like these…They’re the ones we’ll remember ✨

Here’s to making the most of the little moments!

Graduation reminder 🎓🍎

This is the last week you can place your orders for digitals for graduation as the galleries go offline to make space on the platform.

I have replied to everyone who has placed orders but only half have replied - these may have went into your junk folders (please double check) I’ve got lots outstanding and it just causes so many confusion on the site to who has messaged and who hasn’t (doesn’t take much to confuse me)

Going forward for any nursery/baby class it will be 2 weeks to choose your orders - especially when it comes before Christmas etc as it just turns into chaos and can keep costs down not having to pay for extra storage ✨

It’s been so lovely being back at Granny Smith's Nursery and Grasshoppers Nursery for another year of graduates 🎓
