The Northampton & Lamport Railway (NLR) is a volunteer-run heritage railway just a few miles north of Northampton. It uses part of the former LNWR Northampton to Market Harborough line, which was closed by BR in 1981.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary year! 2026 is a very special year for the railway, marking the 30 years since the official opening ceremony in 1996.
It's a pleasant stroll along the Brampton Valley Way, right next to the stations.

We had a stroll around the vineyard after our tasting session, the grapes are ready for harvest, they're not usually ready until October but because of the dry weather it's earlier this year. However, it doesn't mean a bumper harvest, there are lots of grapes but they are much smaller and therefore not as juicy. 🥂🍷

We went to the New Lodge Vineyard in Earls Barton this afternoon for a wine tasting event that was gifted to us last Christmas. We tasted 4 wines, 2 white, a red and a sparkling and we were also served delicious cheese and charcuterie boards, what's not to like! I can't recommend it enough, a great way to spend a Friday afternoon with a friendly bunch of like minded people. The vineyard is in a lovely setting, the staff very welcoming and knowledgeable, so if you're local go and give it a try 🥂

The church of St Mary Magdelene - its central nave is Saxon and dates from between 850 and 950AD. The north isle is 12th century Norman. The south aisle, chancel and tower are all Norman 13th century. There is evidence of an earlier Saxon portion to the chancel. Prior to the building of the stone structure, it is thought a wooden Saxon church existed on this site.

The church served Norman and Plantagenet kings and queens who stayed at their Royal Hunting Lodge in Geddington
