A big Corn Exchange welcome to ART BY ARJO :)

Full of amazing artwork featuring some of Leeds and the UK’s most prominent landmarks - plus a few from round the world as well!

Here’s some pics from the first morning - including Remi and Una, the first customers, who went straight from buying one of Yusef’s bags to a portrait session at my studio!

I don’t do this enough, cos it’s just so easy to keep doing admin and emailing and editing all the blooming time ;) so today I took a lunchtime stroll outside the Corn Exchange through Kirkgate Market, down Briggate and back to the studio again. Thanks to Tias at The Empire Cafe for the coffee and friendly welcome that rounded it off

These portraits of Humaira Bham were made for the online exhibition Faces of Bradford 2025, recognising 20 local people who played a huge role in the City of Culture year. Along with Irene Kaali, Humaira hosted weekly radio show Big Up Bradford, amplifying grassroots voices and telling stories representing people across the district. Humaira has also recently been appearing on BBC1’s Morning Live programme as an optometry expert.

She says: “I spend my days helping people see better as an optometrist, and when I’m not doing that, I’m on telly or socials speaking about things I’m interested in. I’m endlessly curious, love a good convo, and probably ask far too many questions!”
