The Nursery - Whimsical Kismet Ferretry Whimsical Kismet Ferretry, Fife, aiming to raise superb kits with the best of health and temperament Welcome to Whimical Kismet Ferretrys nursery.

This page is for sharing pictures of our kit growing up. It is linked to our group and website so people who have facebook and those that do not can find pictures of their new babies growing up and their relatives. We also use this as our primary way to announce litters planned and kits available as it is much easier up dated than our website. We are based in Fife, Scotland and our lines are a mix

of standard ferrets, EU and angora. We breed primarily for health and temperament followed by colour/markings and working ability in our working lines. Tammer now 3 weeks old. Currently longer than my hand, I think she may even be giving the 7 week olds a run for their money length wise. Currently sitting between sable and dark choc colour wise, not sure which way she will land. Weaning and very active

So glad these guys have started weaning, some of the boys in particular are so wirey. Strong, but I want more meat on their bones!

Trialing Charm and Ghizelle together inside, where I can control things and make sure no one gets hurt

Context: 3 weeks ago Charm had a litter of 10 babies, 1 week ago Ghizelle had twins, one DOA. Such a small litter means Ghizelle is likely to come back into season which can interupt milk supply. She has not started to come in yet but could be any time really. Charm having so many, and Ghizelle so few though we were hoping the little one would reach a point she could feed from Charm, and vice versa, and Charm comes from a long line of fantastic surrogate mothers so I was not worried there. There is still a small difference but its now or never. Both are fantastic mothers though, it seems cruel to take away babies. The mums are happy together outside the cages but I was worried that one, or both, might feel threatened of another jill with the babies. Fortunately Charm seems to have adopted Ghizelle as a kit too, and Ghizelle is her typical easy going self. They are now in the basket together with the swarm
