In the month of May the southwest coasts come to life with a spectacular display of wildflowers including the vibrant Thrift (Sea Pinks) & the yellow clusters of Kidney Vetch.
Here’s a few of my favourite images from previous years.

The shafts of light were mesmerising as the sun filtered through the fresh spring foliage along the path of Yarner Nature. Reserve.
This was another fleeting quiet moment of beauty that emphasizes nature, transience and peace.

The bluebells were looking absolutely stupendous at Emsworthy Mire, Dartmoor this year. It was a lovely evening with sun about to set and too cold for midges.

Here’s a few more woodland bluebell images from earlier in the season.
An atmospheric light mist drifted through along with some lovely light particularly on the leaves.

Early this spring I noticed this lone tree on a small island not too dissimilar to the famous tree at Rydal water in the Lake District but this is Devon.

There was another spectacular display of wild garlic in the woodlands this year.
I like to take a moment to stop in the company of nature to smell the scents and enjoy the sounds and amongst the trees.

After a 4am start I was rewarded by the chance to experience these tranquil woodland scenes The haze of early morning golden light streaming through the dark textured trees was magical. The upper canopies turned into a shimmering veil of green and amber from the low sun. A soft carpet of lush bluebells added a rich, dreamlike contrast to the warm tones above.
It was so atmospheric and serene as sunbeams filter through the trees in the mist. The mix of shadow and light created depth and calm that feels quiet, timeless and full of gentle natural beauty.

Aprils Full Pink moonset over the River Yealm from Rockets cottage looking towards the Great Mewstone.
The full moon was actually at 03:00 setting at 06.40 just before sunrise. The weather forecast was mostly a clear sky and light winds so a perfect opportunity to watch the moon glow above the ocean.

I’m so lucky to have spent my early teens along the Wembury coastline and have always loved this view point.

Here’s a few images from the morning including a beautiful pastel sunrise.

I’d say standing on a Dartmoor Tor just before sunrise, when the air is cold and the mist drifts by, is so peaceful and absolutely breathtaking.
