St Michaels Mount is an island only accessible at low tide via the man made walkway.
A Benedictine monastery tops the islands and has been there for well over 1200 years.

Loch Leven Castle, Kinross🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

When the castle was built in the 1300s, the island was only about 20% the size it is today.
The loch was drained slightly in the 19th century, enlarging the island to it's current size.

The castle is most famous for being the prison of Mary Queen of Scots from 1567 to 1568.
