What do you do when it rains on your wedding day?
This is a question I get asked at pretty much every planning meeting!
After months of glorious dry weather, the heavens opened on Saturday 29th August for Catherine & Dan’s wedding.
And you know what? It absolutely didn’t matter. They had the BEST time!
With a few Plan B’s in place, their day carried on pretty much as planned, just with a few extra gazebo's and brollies in place .So here are my rainy wedding essentials:
I bring a waterproof jacket (obviously!)
Have a few umbrellas of your own , venues often have some, but it’s good to have backups.
Bring spare shoes so your Jimmy Choos survive! Trainers, Converse or even wellies are perfect.
Be flexible , when the rain eases, we'll head outside for confetti, cuddles and couple shots.
Make use of doorways, covered spots and little nooks, as long as you stay dry I can be under an umbrella.
Don't worry about the photos , I’ll make the most of the gorgeous ambient light and get creative with flash too.
And remember… rain on your wedding day is meant to be lucky! " Tie the knot " A wet knot is supposedly harder to untie, meaning a strong and long-lasting marriage.
So embrace it! Keep everyone warm, fed, watered and dancing and you’ll have an incredible day whatever the weather.
Catherine & Dan did exactly that —and had the most amazing day with their family and friends in a gorgeous farm barn in the middle of Suffolk. Congratulations to you both for embracing it all , jumping over puddles , hiding under trees , dashing between buildings and just for being so lovely.
