I’ve been so lucky to photograph so many couples from their engagement or pre-wedding shoot right through to their wedding day, and it’s always so lovely seeing their different journies unfold.

A RAINY AUTUMN WEDDING AT MARYCULTER HOUSE // I captured Hayley and Gordon’s pre-wedding shoot last year with their boys, and it was SO lovely getting to see them all again for the wedding day. They’re such a lovely, family-orientated pair and very much up for a good time, which made them such fun to spend the day with.
•
The Scottish weather did its usual thing and we had plenty of rain throughout the day, but it didn’t stop them from enjoying themselves one bit. We headed out around the grounds at Maryculter House and ended up having a wee dance in the rain, which made for some of my favourite photos from the day.
•
I think that’s what I loved most about photographing these two. They weren’t worried about getting a bit wet or trying to make everything look perfect. They were just having a brilliant time together and with their family!

THE MOST UNDERRATED WEDDING PHOTO SPOTS AT CLUNY CASTLE // has SO many different backdrops for wedding photos, and I think some of them deserve a bit more attention.
•
Your newlywed shots might start out on the castle lawn, wandering inside for a few shots on the main staircase, before making use of the drawing room for the gorgeous interiors and then heading back outside into the gardens.
•
I love how each of these spots brings a different twist to your gallery, from the big castle backdrop to the more relaxed feel of the gardens and the beautiful interior details inside.
•
It’s also why I always think it’s worth looking beyond the obvious spots when you’re viewing a venue. Sometimes the photos you end up loving most aren’t necessarily the ones you pictured when you first walked through the door!

Detail photos are one of those things that can sound a lot more complicated than they actually are…
•
Don’t worry - I’m not expecting you to arrive on the morning of your wedding with a perfectly curated box of things for me to photograph, and I definitely don’t want you spending money on extra bits just because you’ve seen them in someone else’s gallery!
•
I’d much rather photograph the things that actually belong to ‘your’ day, even if that ends up being a very small collection. Some of my favourite detail shots have come from the simplest combinations.
•
The other thing I always tell my couples is that this is very much a “nice to have”, not something you need to worry about if it isn’t your thing. There is already plenty going on when you’re getting ready, so I don’t want this becoming another job on the list.

Save this for when you start putting your detail box together!

I really do feel SO lucky to have this on my doorstep.

Even after photographing weddings across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for years, I still find myself stopping to appreciate where I get to work. We really are spoiled for choice when it comes to beautiful places to get married around here. I get to photograph weddings at some amazing venues around Aberdeenshire, and the scenery that comes with them never gets old.

A STUNNING ABERDEENSHIRE ESTATE WEDDING // What a day this was!
•
Roisean and Liam had their beautiful ceremony at King’s College Chapel in Aberdeen before heading over to Roisean’s family estate, Ecclesgreig, in Aberdeenshire for the rest of the celebrations, and what a setting for a wedding.
•
It was a big one, with SO many amazing people there to celebrate with them, and the whole day just had such a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish.
•
Ecclesgreig is absolutely stunning and made the perfect backdrop for some showstopping newlywed photos, with the grounds giving us loads of beautiful spots to explore together.
•
There were gorgeous details everywhere, plenty of fun throughout the day and then the evening somehow got even better, with music, ceilidh dancing, fireworks and s’mores all making an appearance!
•
Honestly, what more could you want from a wedding?
•
Such a gorgeous day for two lovely people, and one I was very happy to be part of. 🧡

WEE WEDDING WHISPERS EP. 10 - LOREN & VERNON AT LOGIE COUNTRY HOUSE 🦞 // A wee idea to inspire you from Loren and Vernon’s wedding if you’re looking for a fun way to bring a bit of family tradition into your day...

Loren’s family have a lobster business, so they worked the tiniest lobster details into their wedding. She had a little lobster embroidered onto her veil, and lobster was even one of the dinner options for their guests!
•
I thought this was such a fun way to include something that’s personal to them without having to make a big thing of it. It also got me thinking about all the different little things you could bring into a wedding that have a story behind them. Your family business, a favourite food, somewhere that means something to you, a hobby or even a slightly random family tradition…
•
It doesn’t have to be obvious to everyone, it can just be a wee detail that makes you smile when you both know the story behind it. 🧡
