A CHIC CITY WEDDING AT MARISCHAL COLLEGE, ABERDEEN // Jen and Stuart’s wedding was a little different from the norm and I absolutely loved being part of it. We actually first met when they were guests at a wedding I was shooting, so it was such a fab surprise when they got in touch and asked me to photograph their own day!
•
This was their legal wedding ceremony at Marischal College before heading off to celebrate properly with family and friends in Ibiza later on in the year. They wanted coverage of the legal ceremony, their vows, family photos and some time together afterwards and I was delighted to come along and capture it all.
•
One of my favourite parts of the day was heading out into the city for their newlywed photos. The mix of Marischal College, Union Terrace Gardens and the architecture around His Majesty’s Theatre gave us such a cool backdrop to work with, and it suited the whole feel of the day perfectly.
•
And can we please take a moment for Jen’s outfit? She looked absolutely incredible! The suit was effortlessly stylish and worked so well with the city vibe. It all felt very modern, very chic and completely suited to them.
•
I’ve absolutely loved seeing snippets of their Ibiza celebrations on social media since! The perfect continuation of such a brilliant wedding story. ☀️

AN EMOTIONAL WEDDING PHOTO ALBUM COLLECTION // Following their lovely wedding day, Chloe and Craig collected their finished bespoke wedding album and getting to watch them sit down and flick through it together was such a lovely reminder of why I offer this service as well as wedding photography! Seeing your photos on a screen is one thing, but seeing them carefully printed, laid out as a story and turned into something you can actually hold and keep forever is completely different.
•
For their album design, Chloe and Craig chose a gorgeous burgundy leather cover which tied in perfectly with Craig’s kilt and the rich autumn colours from their wedding day. Their wedding date is embossed on the front, with their venue name printed inside the cover, making it feel even more personal to them.
•
Each album is handmade in Italy and completely bespoke. My couples choose their favourite images, cover materials and finishes, then I design the layout and tell the story of the day across the pages!
•
As much as I love delivering galleries online, there’s something about a physical wedding album that just feels so sentimental. It ends up living on a coffee table, getting pulled out when family visit and being looked through with love years down the line.

A BOTANICAL PRE-WED AT DUTHIE PARK WINTER GARDENS // Kaitlyn & Craig’s pre-wedding shoot took us somewhere a little different back in February, the beautiful Duthie Park Winter Gardens in Aberdeen.
•
Even though it’s a chillier time of year, the gardens are such a good location for a pre-wed in Winter. The greenhouses are packed with colour and greenery and when the light streams through the glass like it did on our day together, it’s an absolute dream to photograph.
•
One of my favourite things about pre-wedding shoots is seeing the photos take on a life beyond the shoot itself and Kaitlyn & Craig definitely delivered on that front! They ended up using one of their pre-wed images as part of a brilliant vinyl record-inspired design for their wedding invitations, which I thought was such a cool and personal idea. 🎵
•
Fast forward a few months and they’re now counting down to their wedding at this July, which I’m very excited for. If their pre-wed is anything to go by, it’s going to be such a lovely day!

An outdoor ceremony is the dream for so many couples, but with North East Scotland weather doing its own thing, is it worth the risk? And are indoor ceremonies really the compromise some people think they are?

A CHIC STEADING SHOOT // Every now and then it’s really nice to shoot something a little different, and this collaborative styled shoot at was exactly that!
•
Emma from and Alison from got in touch and asked if I’d photograph a series of beautiful setups they were planning on creating at Schivas Steading. The aim was to showcase how a florist and venue dresser can work together to completely transform a space for wedding ceremonies and dinners, and it was so lovely to see their creative visions brought to life.
•
One of the things I enjoyed most was seeing different ways the venue could be styled. When couples visit a venue, it can sometimes be difficult to picture how the space could look on their own wedding day, so seeing such creative, alternative layouts and styling ideas like these is always so fun to see.
•
And as a bonus, we’re all Oldmeldrum-based businesses and local to Schivas Steading, so it felt really special to collaborate together on something so close to home. 💛
•
I genuinely loved every setup, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would have to be the rounded seating arrangement by the window. Such a unique take on a usual wedding ceremony setup which turned out absolutely gorgeous.

THE MOST UNDERRATED WEDDING PHOTO SPOTS AT LOGIE COUNTRY HOUSE // One thing I always say to my couples is that some of the best wedding photos rarely happen in the places you’d expect.
•
When you’re in the middle of venue hunting, it’s easy to focus on the big selling points like the ceremony space and the reception room. And don’t get me wrong, those are important! But after shooting so many weddings at over the years, I’ve learned that some of my favourite images have come from the places couples never think twice about.
•
A huge part of your wedding photos is being able to see potential in the spaces around you and making the most of whatever the day gives us. Sometimes all it takes is great light, a bit of creativity and a willingness to look beyond the obvious spots.
•
One of the reasons I love photographing weddings at Logie is because there are so many opportunities for this. Every wedding I shoot there feels slightly different, even when I’m working in the same venue!
•
If you’re currently venue hunting in Aberdeenshire, don’t just think about the standard photo locations. Sometimes the spots you’ll remember most aren’t the ones you noticed on your venue tour. ✨

A SPRING PRE-WEDDING SHOOT ON AN ABERDEENSHIRE CROFT // When Layla and Dylan suggested having their pre-wedding shoot at home, I was absolutely on board. They’ve created such a lovely setup on their croft here in Aberdeenshire, surrounded by stunning fields, stables, horses and all their animals. It couldn’t have been more personal to them.
•
Like so many of my couples, they were pretty nervous when we first started. I’d say most people feel exactly the same before a pre-wed! But after spending some time wandering around the grounds, meeting the animals and stopping for photos along the way, they quickly relaxed into it.
•
One of my favourite things about shoots like this is photographing people somewhere that already means something to them. We spent a stunning Spring evening exploring, making the most of the beautiful light and even used a gorgeous old church window tucked away on the property for some photos.
•
The best part is that one of their horses and one of their dogs are making a special appearance at their wedding at on the 13th of this month, and after meeting the full gang on the croft, I genuinely can’t wait to see them all again!
•

WEE WEDDING WHISPERS EP.6 - A BALMEDIE BEACH PRE-WED TO REMEMBER // One of the things I enjoy most about pre wedding shoots is that they give me and my couples a chance to try out fun and creative ideas before the wedding day.
•
For Rory and Chloe’s pre-wedding shoot at beautiful Balmedie beach, I brought along a wee Camp Snap camera for them to use as and it resulted in the most fun footage of them both, and also lovely, candid golden hour photos from my POV too!
•
The photos from a pre wedding shoot are always so special, but there was something really different about seeing pre-wedding shoot moments from the couple’s point of view too. It ended up being such a lovely wee keepsake for them to have alongside their portraits too.
•
It’s safe to say I’m very glad I gave it a go, and can’t wait to use this wee camera in future pre-weds. 📹
•

I don’t think people realise how much it means when lovely feedback comes not just from the couple, but from their friends and family as well. 🥹

Bride Christina sent over screenshots from the group chat after her and Fraser’s wedding at and it made me smile so much because it’s exactly how I hope couples and guests feel on the day when working with me!

I always want it to feel like I’m naturally part of your day. I get involved when needed, calm nerves when needed, help things run smoothly in the background and then blend into the crowd the rest of the time catching the celebrations as they happen.

Guests noticing this is such a massive compliment because they experience the incredible atmosphere of the day just as much as the couple do!

So, a huge thank you to Christina, Fraser and their lovely guests for these comments. The best day from start to finish. ✨
