I had a visit to Aviemore Ospreys on Saturday Morning. The conditions were ideal, Ian was a superb host and Lee was a great companion on the hide. Sadly, the dominant male Osprey had other ideas, keeping any other visitors well away from the pond and being unsuccessful himself when he finally decided to dive. Ho hum, that's nature and I still managed to come away with some reasonable images.

A few pictures from our recent trip to Dumfries & Galloway. This time stopping in Newton Stewart which meant that I was able to squeeze in trips to both Scottish Photography Hides and Barhill woods, both near Kirkcudbright. I'm really happy how the back-lit Tawny Owl pictures turned out at Alan's Hide.

Saturday morning was spent at Vane Farm just watching and photographing the 'wee' Red Squirrels. It really is good for the soul to have them scampering around just feet away from you.

A selection of Northern Lights images from my recent trip to Iceland. A wonderful trip, with like-minded individuals, and we were lucky enough to see the Aurora on all three nights!

Note - I've 'lightened' the images from publishing them on my original post as Facebook made them look extremely dark.

Just back from another trip to Dumfries & Galloway. On the Monday, I treated myself to a day at Scottish Photography Hides to photograph the Diving Kingfishers. A great day was had. It was nice to spend the day with two other like-minded individuals. There's definitely a degree of luck involved but I'm more than happy to come away with these images on my first attempt. Next time, I'll probably take my remote shutter with me.

I spent all day Saturday with Neil McIntyre on his Red Deer Photography Day in The Cairngorms. The idyllic location and mixed weather made for a lots of photographic opportunities and Neil was a first class host and tutor.

A selection of Red Squirrel images taken on Sunday morning. The gorgeous 'Golden Hour' light and autumnal leaves making for a great background. I'd previously surveyed this woodland for our local Red Squirrel Group and was just waiting for the right moment to head back with my camera.

A couple of pictures from my visit to Penny Hedge, near Blairgowrie, on Thursday to see the Pine Martens. Sadly, it was brought to an early finish after gusting wind knocked over and damaged part of the lighting equipment. Luckily for me, the extremely kind hosts have invited me back for another go.

A few pictures from our recent visit to the Isle of Wight. Not really a photography trip but it's always great to get the camera, or phone camera out when there's something nice worth capturing.

It's all been a bit quiet on the picture front recently, apart from the visit to Crammond where I was fortunate enough to see the Dipper. Sadly, someone stole my monopod whilst I was taking the pictures, so that hasn't helped. The diving Tern picture was taken a few weeks a go on a trip to St Andrews. However, I've got things planned, going forward, which should produce some nice images. On my local patch, the Kingfishers and Dippers are very active at the moment so looking forward to taking advantage of those. Later this month is the Dawn Goose Watch down in Kinross with the RSPB. Next month I'm spending the day in the Highlands with Neil McIntyre photographing Red Deer. I'm also now booked to travel to Norway next August to photograph Musk Oxen, which I'm SO looking forward to.
