About a month ago my family opened a scandannavia style B and B. It's called No. 5! So far it's had nothing but excellent reviews;
"The studio was very comfortable for us to both work from home, and yet enjoy our evenings indoors, or enjoy our afternoons, evenings and weekends exploring the beautiful surroundings of Callander and beyond.
For our first trip to the highlands, we could not have asked for a better Air BnB and overall location to stay in."

If your looking for a cosy get away this autumn it could be the place for you, complete with a giant map to plan your adventures and discover new places in the Trossachs or beyond!

Last weekend in the heart of the Cairngorms I got the chance to help photograph the , a triathlon that starts with a midnight swim in the murky black waters of Loch Morlich followed by a 56 mile bike ride with a grueling climb up to the Cairngorms Ski Centre and as dawn starts to break over the majestic misty mountains and forests, a run up into the mountains circling back down through the wild heather and untamed pine trees to finish back at Loch Morlich.
Before all of this everyone registered up at the ski centre. Having never photographed an event quite like this it was interesting seeing how the photographs turned out. It was both exiting and nerve racking all at the same time. Some athletes were tense while others were exited in anticipation of the race ahead.
After photographing registration and I went back to get all the camera gear ready and some brief shut eye before the night ahead!
More photographs to follow 😁

I slowly awoke to the sound of a roaring waterfall, my dog beside me sleeping peacefully. I opened the tent and after packing a few belongings continued along the road to climb a mountain before breakfast. My camera packed, we left the car aside the road and continued on foot into the hill country. The lush summer forest quikly gave way to the mountain above and the terrain quickly became steep and rocky. After a slow scramble and some some photographs to remember the mountain by we made it to the top. The mist roled down the great glens to either side of us and unusually there was little wind upon the great mountain. After a kind word from a stranger about the loyalty of border collie's I descended, naturally running off the mountain.
Back at the campsite we arrived, tired and hot, I had ate a breakfast of porridge and fruit. Afterwords, rather unsure at first of my decision, I to jump into the river. After the initial shock of the icy cold blast of water I steadied my breath and dived down with my snorkel into the crystal clear depth of the gully marveling at the fish gracefully swimming there.
Alas, all adventures must come to an end. Sad to leave, watching children play happily in the river, glinting in the warmth of the sun, I left the glen. Some bikes packers passed me and giving them a smile and a wave, rather unexpectedly, was given this beautiful smile by the last bike packer left me feeling very happy and thus I continued along my way.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending my weekend at Carsaig. In the day we went out on the boat looking at the sea life in the surrounding bay. It was such an amazing time to come with spring in full bloom and colours everywhere. On a hike up a small hill we got an extraordinary view of Carsaig bay nestled in the hills along the coast line.

The conditions were dreich and windy as I descend off the moorland back down the glen. I got to borrow my friend 's GoPro and decided to test out the time warp feature on the descent. Such a cool wee feature, incredible that such a small camera is capable of packing in so much technology these days!

and I were making our way up Ben Guilpen to see the sunrise back at the start of winter when the first cold days of winter were coming in. We made a wrong turn in the dark on the way up and ended up summiting a rather muddy alternative route. By the time we got up we made it just in time to watch the sun come up over the horizon. We had coffee and a small breakfast while the mist soaked valleys awoke to the sun.

It was beautiful breezy day back in summer when I was hiking with my Dad and his friend Daryl up . Ceann na Baintighearna. Yeah I'm still not entirely sure how to pronounce that... A spot of gloomy clouds and fairly wet rain meant taking an alternative route down past herd of darting deer back into the the warm sunny glen down a windy track where we ran into another herd this time cattle, part a rather menacing and immensely large old bull, through a river or two, hopped up and over a fence and arrived back down to the cars.

I got the chance to stay on the west coast in the summer with . Everyday we would explore the cold underwater world of seaweed and sand and chase corals of fish until we were freezing or tired. By night we watched the sunset over Dura avoiding the worst of the midges by the fire.
Over the hill the village of Tyvallich sits nestled in the hillside surrounding the harbour. It is one of the most beautiful litte places and I hope to return again in the warmth of the summer.

After spending the night attempting to sleep in the car on the east coast of Scotland I got up to photograph the sunrise. It was a wind chilled morning as I made my way closer to Bass rock. I looked through my camera to see the sky around the cliff torn island was full of tiny white specs. Thousands and thousands of birds were flying around the cliffs. It was a wild place to be at the first light of dawn.

This is Ben Anne at the start of Autunm and another right at the end of winter. Both photo's a world apart from each other, one flourishing with light and colour, the other dark and murky still waiting for spring to come. I love the winter and the amazing transformation of the landscape but I'm really looking forward to spring and the warmth of the sun as life and colour return to the valley once again.

The week before Jack and I climbed Creag MacRanaich I decided to scout out the mountain with Meg. We made our slowly made our way into the valley following a herd of deer. At the base of the mountain I made s snow hole before turning back. Even getting the this point in the valley was difficult as the snow was often waist deep and moving in the soft snow was slow going.

On a slightly more daring Saturday hike, and I decided to climb Creag MacRanaich. The cold temperatures meant that in many places a thin layer of ice covered the deep snow which made for pretty slippery conditions. The walk out to the base of the mountain was long and slow going and it took us the best part of the day to climb it. It was an exhausting expedition but conditions were incredible.
