For three decades, National Photographers has had the privilege of documenting the "beginning." From the calm of a pool birth to the precision of a surgical theatre, our team has been there to capture the raw, heart-warming stories of new life.

NHS assignments demand more than just a camera—they require calm judgment, technical skill in low light, and total respect for clinical teams.

Across almost 30 years of UNP history, we have worked on and off for the NHS and for respected editorial titles including Health Service Journal, Nursing Times, Nursing Standard, Hospital Midwife, Hospital Doctor, GP, Pulse, Prima Baby, and various NHS-related magazines.

For more than 13 years, United National Photographers has documented Comic Relief and Red Nose Day campaigns across the UK — from celebrity launches and national PR campaigns to workplace fundraising and community events.

Spooky Moments from Britain’s Workplaces — That Tells a Story
From to , to , , and — (UNP) have been on the move this week capturing the spooky side of Britain’s workplaces. As part of our nationwide PR and press photography service, we were invited to photograph Halloween celebrations where creativity and community came to life. Across offices, warehouses and logistics centres, colleagues and their families transformed everyday environments into haunted spaces — complete with eerie lighting, carved pumpkins, and plenty of fake cobwebs. Costumes ranged from classic ghosts and skeletons to imaginative modern monsters, all adding to the festive atmosphere.

Our team of press and PR photographers documented each laugh, scare and creative touch, producing imagery that’s both vibrant and professional. This 1960s water jug, marked "HAMLET Special Panatellas" by HCW, with an old Union Jack flag tucked inside, has been a fixture in my office for exactly 27 years today. Don’t ask me why—it’s just one of those things. Perhaps as the Bard, Shakespeare, said, “What’s in a name?”
I launched UNP in August 1997. Back then, we were called United Northern Photographers, only covering the region from Derbyshire to Northumberland. But demand for quality freelance photographers from national broadsheet newspapers, like The Times, The Guardian, FT, The Independent, and The Daily Telegraph, soon had us expand. We became United National Photographers, serving the whole of the UK. While the broadsheets may have shrunk in size and shifted from quality to tabloid, we’ve stayed the same for 27 years. And my Hamlet jug? It’s still here, along with the crinkled but ever-vibrant flag.

RIP.

Elliott Erwitt, a legendary photographer behind the most recognized black & white photographs of the 20th century, has passed away peacefully at the age of 95.

A Magnum photographer and a 2015 recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Photography award, Elliott Erwitt has been applauded for capturing absurd situations of the everyday with a light, ironic style.
