A great PR photograph begins long before the camera comes out.

This Glasgow campaign, commissioned by Tin Man Communications for EDF, is a good example of why planning matters.

Before a single athlete stepped in front of the camera, separate sunrise and sunset location recces were completed across Glasgow to assess landmarks, lighting, working space and how each location would perform for both landscape and portrait photography.

The final campaign featured Scottish gymnasts Aaron Convery and Indira Williams, photographed at Riverside Museum and Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, creating a versatile image library for press, corporate communications and digital publishing.

The photography was subsequently published across national newspapers, consumer media, EDF's Media Centre and regional newspaper titles.

For us, this assignment wasn't simply about producing attractive images. It was about planning, selecting the right photographer, understanding how the pictures would be used, and delivering a complete image library that could support a live communications campaign.
