Stage 2 of Le Pilgrimage

102km. 3,080m of climbing. One seriously tough day on the bike.

A relentless journey through the French Alps, taking on the climbs around La Grande Combe and Fort Janus — long gradients, rough tracks, tired legs and some truly spectacular scenery.

There were definitely moments when I questioned what I was doing 😂, but days like this are exactly why I ride.

Hard earned. Absolutely unforgettable.

Day 1 of Le Pilgrimage completed. Epic mountain gravel riding following the Pilgrim Trail of Saint Roch. 60 miles of riding and 3 mountains climbed totalling around 8600’ . One of the most challenging days of riding I’ve ever done, but more importantly new experiences and new friends made. Some cycling action photos to follow but this was the view of a rain storm moving in across the nearby alpine mountains.
More to come 🙏

Steel, light, and history all in one frame.
The Tees Transporter Bridge glowing against the night sky — a reminder of the North East’s industrial heritage, still standing strong over a century later.

So you head out to photograph bluebells and get distracted by some moss covered rocks. That’s the beauty of photography in woodlands, you never quite know what to expect.

Bluebell woods at Middleton Ilkley. About the best I’ve ever seen them, mind you the light helped. Try going early morning , you may be blessed with a little bit of mist and the low angle of the sun in the sky creates depth with the light and shadows. Have you been to Middleton Woods?
