Tony Reed Photography Hi I'm Tony, a landscape photographer based in the beautiful Burley-In-Wharfedale, Yorkshire UK. I also offer individual and group photography tuition.

Exploring the landscapes of Yorkshire (and beyond), sharing authentic outdoor storytelling, photography insights, and cycling adventures that celebrate the slower way to travel. Some views are worth the climb.

Just back from an incredible trip to New England, USA. Maybe some of the most stunning views I’ve ever seen. We got lucky and landed at peak foliage . What followed was a road trip across New England that I’ll never forget ending at the coastline in Maine.

Warning … a lot of foliage images incoming in the next few weeks.

Overlooking Echo Lake and the White Mountains, Artist’s Bluff delivered New England autumn at its finest. A breathtaking patchwork of fiery reds, golden yellows and deep greens. Nature putting on one incredible show.

🇺🇸 A balcony that witnessed history.

Standing in the heart of Boston, the beautiful Old State House has an extraordinary story to tell.

On 18 July 1776, the Declaration of Independence was read aloud from this very balcony to a gathering crowd, marking a defining moment in America’s journey to freedom.

Nearly 250 years later, this remarkable building still stands proudly, surrounded by the skyscrapers of modern Boston.

Fenway Park. Home of the Boston Redsox . Now I can’t say I’m a fan of baseball but I have to admit the sense of history really captured me today. Great stadium tour. The red seat marks the longest home run ever hit.. at over 500 yards. Apparently it hit some bloke in the head who had fallen asleep and knocked a hole in his hat 😆. Today the red seat remembers where he sat.

Having ridden (and walked) for what seemed like an eternity through heavy downpours the weather finally breaks as we enter Italy and descend down to Sestriere where we had some much needed pasta at a refuge. The scenery was incredible and just reward for the effort in getting there. No drive up to the car park photos here!

It was a decision I had to make, to carry a camera system that weighed almost half a kilo on big mountain gravel days on Le Pilgrimage .. but , it was really worth it … stunning landscapes to photograph and video. Until day 3 that was when, 20,000’ of climbing into the event with the same to come over a 2 day stage I had to make the call to leave it behind and reply on the iPhone and onboard insta 360 Go camera. Still, hopefully I will still have some great photos and clips to share.. looking forward to the edits next week.

“Free speed” is a very common piece of cycling jargon used to describe the momentum and velocity you gain without pedaling or expending extra physical energy… nothing about the last 4 days was ‘free’. Every downhill was earned, sometimes after hours of relentless leg sapping uphill toil. Is it worth it? Oh yes, the feeling of freedom descending the alpine gravel tracks is like an addiction. I try and soak it all up whilst staying focussed and safe. Thankfully I can relive it through my photography and now also with my onboard video which I hope to share with you soon. I hope you enjoy.

Beginning of the climb of the Colle Di Sommelier, up to 3003m in the Italian alps. The scenery seen during Le Pilgrimage was breathtaking, but as this photo was later to prove, drama is never far away. Caught in a huge thunder and hail storm as we descended to Briancon at the end of the 4 days of riding it was a timely reminder to treat this area with respect.

One of the hill dwellers on Colle Du Sommelier, Italian Alps. Unlike English cows these guys were really chilled out! ...
