I hear this one ALL the time. 😂

And honestly? You don't need to.

You don't have to arrive at your photoshoot knowing where to put your hands, how to stand, what to do with your face or how to make yourself look natural in front of a camera.

That's what I'm there for. 💙

I'll guide you through your poses, show you where to stand, where to look and what to do — and I'll make little adjustments along the way to make sure everything looks just right.

My job isn't just to take the photograph. It's to make you feel comfortable enough to enjoy the experience and create images you'll love.

We all love a good first birthday cake smash… but can we talk about 2nd birthdays for a minute?

At two, they're full of personality. They have their own little expressions, their own cheeky smiles, their own ideas about absolutely everything 😂 — and they're becoming so much more THEM.

That's exactly why I love photographing this age.

No cake smash needed. No big reason needed. Just a little snapshot of who they are right now, before they grow and change again.

Because birthdays aren't just milestones to tick off… they're memories you'll want to hold onto. 💕

Meet the wedding dream team… 👰🏻‍♀️📸

You probably know me as the face behind Dee Dee Photography, but when it comes to weddings, I don't always work alone…

This is Carly — an absolutely amazing photographer, my wedding sidekick, and the person I’m very happy to have by my side when the big days come around. ❤️

Yesterday we photographed Dave & Claire’s wedding together, and honestly… what a day! So much laughter, so much love and the kind of atmosphere that makes you forget you're technically “working”. 😂

One of my absolute favourites from Irana's 2nd birthday session. 💙

I mean… look at her! 🥹

The little smile, those big beautiful eyes and the confidence she has holding that two… I just love everything about this photo. 💕

It's always amazing to see little ones come back to the studio after their first birthday. They've changed SO much in that one year — from wobbly little first steps to suddenly running around with a whole lot of personality! 😂

And that's one of the reasons I love 2nd birthday sessions so much.

They don't have to be another cake smash. We can create something completely different that reflects who they are now — their personality, their favourite colours, their favourite things, or simply a beautiful portrait session to mark another year.

Because somehow, they go from “my baby is ONE!” to “how are you TWO already?!” in the blink of an eye. 🥹💙

And yes… I definitely think this little lady absolutely rocked her second birthday session. 👑✨

A cake smash isn't just about the cake! 🎂

Before we get to the messy (and usually hilarious 😂) part, I always like to take some time to capture your little one just as they are — their smiles, their expressions and all those little bits of personality that make them them.

Because let's be honest… the cake might be the main event, but this little face is pretty special too! 🥹💕

Then comes the cake, the mess and all the fun! 🎂😂

I love being able to give parents a little collection of both — beautiful portraits they'll treasure and those wonderfully chaotic cake smash memories.

👁️✨ Look closely… this is a real eye.

One thing I really love about iris photography is just how much detail is already there.

The colours, the tiny fibres, the patterns and all those little variations that make every iris completely unique. 🤎💚

When I photograph an iris, my aim is to capture **what is actually there**.

I use professional equipment to photograph the eye in incredible detail, then make only the adjustments needed to enhance the photograph — without changing the natural patterns, colours or features of the iris.

Because honestly… nature has already done an amazing job. Why replace it? 🤍

The image at the top is the finished iris photograph, and underneath you can see the original eye it came from.

No computer-generated iris. No creating patterns that weren't there.

Just a real eye, photographed in detail and carefully enhanced to show what makes it uniquely yours. ✨

And I think that's what makes iris photography so special. No two are ever exactly the same. 👁️

Keep Backgrounds Simple

Have you ever taken what should have been a lovely photo, only to notice a pile of washing, a bin or random clutter in the background afterwards?

Before you press the shutter, take a quick look around your frame.

✨ Move distracting objects if you can.
✨ Take a step to the left or right for a cleaner background.
✨ Keep the focus where it belongs—on your subject.

A simple background can make your photos look instantly more polished and professional.

Sometimes it's the little details that make the biggest difference. 💙

Remember this little girl from my recent reel? 🤍

She was off on her very first little adventure… 🦄✨

And while she might not remember her first adventures, one day her family will be able to look back at these tiny details — those little fingers, those teeny toes, the sleepy little face — and remember just how small she once was. 🥹🤍

Because this stage really is so fleeting. Before you know it, those tiny fingers are grabbing everything, those little legs are kicking their way around the world and your sleepy newborn is suddenly not so little anymore!

That’s why I love newborn photography. Not just to create beautiful images, but to preserve these tiny moments that disappear far too quickly. 🤍
