I'm not normally a wildlife photographer - mostly focussing on landscape, cycling and abstract stuff.
While walking my dog a couple of weeks ago I came across a large silk nest with caterpillars just starting to emerge and grabbed a few shots with my phone camera. Went back a few days later with a 'proper' camera (my OM SYSTEM TG-7 - only a little compact but has a great set of macro modes). By that point the nest was just a writhing mass of caterpillars all huddled together. I wanted to show the confusing mess of creatures as I loved the abstract qualities of the colour, pattern and texture, but also managed to get one of the heads fairly sharp to give some context and scale to the image.
(OM SYSTEM TG-7 (basic macro mode). 18mm equivalent. f/4.9 equivalent. 1/160. ISO800. Processed in darktable)
